double corruption of a gem

does gem have to be corrupted once already to achieve double corruption in Doryani’s Institute room in Incursion ?

You can't corrupt a gem that is allready corrupted, so that's a no.

Don't waste that on a gem when you could be making a +4 bane item to sell for many exalts, unless your going for a L21 vaal skill that isnt already covered by a Div card.

It's really embarrassing how clueless I'm about many things in this game , I have no idea what +4 bane item is , and also why exalted orbs are so valuable ? is there another use for them beside adding random modifier to rare item ?

" It's rare. It's the de facto currency for high end items. As a crafting material, it's rather meh. But outside SSF, no one really uses exalts for crafting. Bird lover of Wraeclast

Nowadays exalts is also used to craft highly desirable mods, specially veiled mods. But yeah, mostly used to trade high-end stuffs or services.

They're not used directly though.
They're used as the cost for a crafting bench affix. If you want to actually exalt something, Put Leo in research. his reward is effectively a free exalted orb. |

I use my doryanis rank 3 on either gems I use for my own build, which gets a hefty bonus at both extra level and extra quality.
