Syndicate Freezes, Stutters/Drops Frames Severely
Hi,
Getting this problem also since last update. It results in pretty much instant death everytime. I noticed as well as Syndicate, the encounter in Delve where the dudes come out of the tents causes the exact same issue. Infact it seems to be even worse.

" I looked through your DXdiag. You have a mechanical hard drive and only 8GB of RAM, and I am not sure about your page file configuration. (1) Go into the Windows Settings and change the Page File/Virtual Memory to manual 3x RAM (= 24GB). Windows Explorer > This PC > Properties > Advanced System Settings > Advanced tab > Performance button "Settings..." > Advanced tab > Virtual memory > "Change..." button Windows can manage the page file itself and should leave it at that ( https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2860880/how-to-determine-the-appropriate-page-file-size-for-64-bit-versions-of ). But the Betrayal spawn lag might be an edge case (limited RAM (16GB recommended w 64bit) + limited page file + mechanical HDD that is not even defragmented). (2) Go into the C:/ > Properties > Tools tab Do a health check "Check" button and let it defragment the drive "Optimise". Further, you could double check the health of the drive with Seagate's HDD tool: SeaTools https://www.seagate.com/gb/en/support/downloads/ You have ~500GB free on the mechanical drive. That is ok. To check if an edge case exists here, I would advise buying a 2nd stick of identical 8GB RAM (for dual channel mode) and an SSD. And expand the page file accordingly (3x RAM), and put it on the much faster SSD. If you still have with this upgrade Betrayal spawn lag, then it is something else. edit: Same applies for @ Rook_O_Blood & @ zixk Both have 8GB of RAM and a mechanical hard drive and a full 8GB page file. I7 4770K
32GB Ram GTX 1080 Ti [Main monitor 60Hz + Rift HMD] GTX 1070 Ti [Secondary Monitorm, 1080p 144hz] Steam Library on E:\ drive, 2TB SSHD drive The freezes and slow loading times were so bad that I uninstalled POE and re-installed on my little 240GB C:\ boot drive SSD just to test things out. Night and day difference. Game loads into town in <3 seconds instead of 30+ Any user hideout loads in <3 seconds instead of between 15+ No idea if it was the re-install (28 mins on 80MB Brandband) or the SSD that sorted it. Not encountered a syndicate member yet though as that was freeze hell. Noticed that the freezes (on previous install) also happened if you invited people to your map for free Trial runs. I would lock up for about 3 seconds as each person joined. Assumed it was a texture loading issue on their gear. Again not tested that on my new install but doubt it will have any effect now, everything is smooth as it can be like last league.
DxDiag output, game (and steam library) is placed separately on WD1003FZEX disc, which is dedicated for games only - no another activity.
Steam version No launch parameters. Experienced lags during syndicate member appearance leading to disconnect from server: mostly during intervention events, slightly during research events (when finally reach syndicate member in the end of layout), transportation and fortification events runs smoothly. " @ DefyLogik Please see my post above: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2454098/page/27#p21798936 I went through your DXdiag. Could you test the following: (1) Go into the Windows Settings and change the Page File/Virtual Memory to manual 3x RAM. In your case 32GB x 96GB. And put the page file/virtual memory on the C:/ NVMe SSD ( KXG50ZNV256G NVMe TOSHIBA 256GB ). Windows Explorer > This PC > Properties > Advanced System Settings > Advanced tab > Performance button "Settings..." > Advanced tab > Virtual memory > "Change..." button (2) Do a trim for the NVMe SSD. Properties > Tools > Optimise button. Select C:/ and press the Optimise button. You could also download the Toshiba toolkit to check the health of the drive: https://ssd.toshiba-memory.com/en-amer/download/ssd-utility (3) Do a cold restart, see if it helps. Best run only POE. No other programs in the background. Not even Chrome open. If you have a 2nd monitor, you could leave the task manager open on the 2nd monitor and watch the behaviour (of the graphs) when the betrayal spwan lag happens, as this user did (for his Frame Time spikes and FPS drops, when non-preloaded assets were loaded from his 7200RPM HDD): https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/arcqzg/1second_freeze_occasionally_known_issue_i_cant/egmjitw/ edit/PS: " FYI: GGG does not officially support ultrawide (otherwise the UI would be centered and scalable, like in Grim Dawn). You are effectively pushing 4K with 3440 x 1440. Plus this is POE, POE does not have an as optimised engine as AAA publishers (eg EA Frostbite). Your "ti" cannot make that up, even if its advertised as 1440p graphics card. Lower the graphics settings, especially AA. And run in Gsync at 100Hz max (if in the Advanced Display settings you can set it to eg 75hz, then run 75Hz w Gsync on at 75FPS locked). Not the overclocked 120Hz your monitor can squeeze out.
