Syndicate Freezes, Stutters/Drops Frames Severely

Why not just disable betrayal while y'all figure out what y'all did to screw up the encounters? that way the game can be playable and not losing portals and exp from coming back from a frozen screen to be dead.
Just gonna post here that I`m also dying all the time, they are quite frequent on maps(selection bias, of course), since 3.6 died around 10 times because of it. Played around 6 hours in standard.

Funny thing is that the first encounter seems to be the random assassins guys(didn't play betrayal league, idk what they are), i cant see something in the map that warns me so i can just not go where they are, and leave the map. Instant 10s freeze, dead.
also same problem playing in hc and i exit when i see syndicate cause i freeze
same problem here.
not a problem I need at level 99 :(
Having the same issue on my trusty old, now mid range PC. Likely won't play until this issue is somehow resolved and it's quite frustrating considering the myriad of minor technical issues Path of Exile has had for years that have been left unresolved and the fact that this has happened with a mechanic implemented 4 months ago rather than something completely new, to me is a display of either ineptitude or just plain not caring.

What doesn't help with my opinion is the complete lack of even an acknowledgement of the issue by GGG themselves, which again shows either a lack of competency or lack of care, when this thread has quite a few posts on it. Was feeling pretty good about this league and was enticing some friends to return or try it out for the first time, I've since told them to avoid it till major issues like the one outlined in this thread are fixed.
All just a bit of a shame really.

why this is taking so long to be fixed, at least remove the intervention guy from appearing while you work on the issue , this is getting borderline ridiculous, also fix the goddamn delve cities not giving xp.
Even EA beta tests. GGG would have seen this issue a mile away if they would just beta test their patches. Seriously a 9.7gig update and 0 beta testing. Not that 0 testing is a new thing, you can just go back and look at every league so far and the plethora of issues that result in tons of major patches and hotfizes.

To be fair, they did list this problem among things they are working on in a blog post a few days ago, but no, they haven't directly replied to this thread. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Yes, PLEASE for God's sakes. Or at least temporarily restrict Syndicate encounters to Jun's daily so those of us getting hammered by Intervention assaults can choose to AVOID Syndicate encounters.

Mapping is all but unplayable right now with these encounters randomly destroying you. Huge numbers of us literally cannot play the main endgame content without this risk right now.

Here is what fixed it for me. Step by Step, it will take a long time so do it on a day off.

1. Delete all Shader files of POE
2. Run the GPPK file with a defrag program, you can find one specially designed for poe, here at the forum. I went from almost 20GB to 15GB.
3. Run Defragger on your whole PC (takes many hours if you did not do that before)

It took me about 15 hours yesterday, but now my game runs fine again. The loading times of 5 minutes + are gone, moving from one map to another is faster, lag spikes have improved, my hdd is not spinning all the time causing big stuttering in game.

this is ofc only a fix for HDD users, SSD´s should not be defragmented for obvious reasons.

I don´t know what GGG did in 3.6 that it caused such a mess, but if you don´t want to wait for their fix, try mine. At least for me, it has worked.

I took these steps, but only had two Betrayal encounters since. I was able to complete them with minor stuttering, but nothing too drastic. I think this works, but I will report my next encounters.

I deleted all of the "ShaderFiles" folders and ran the poe defragger, which you can find here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/28060 . I have yet to defrag my hard drive however.

This will not fix the severe FPS drop with syndicate encounters. This will only help with faster load times. I just did all of these and didnt fix syndicate encounter.

On my end it has worked, but I was also running a POE install from 2015 or so.
That being said, it´s not a given that it will work for everyone.

From my understanding, the game is having issues with reading the betrayel sound effects or textures, therefore the freeze. i am not sure if there is just an indexing issue, where as, the necessary data is so spread out, that the HDD just can´t cope with it, or if there is just an error in their preloading order etc.
But i am quite sure, it´s all about the GPPK file, as with so many things in POE. I had no idea how smooth the game can run, as I always had issues.

Anyways, those that can, feel free to try it, but let´s hope, GGG will find a way to sort things out.
