POE camera is more zoomed out than even Diablo 3, comparison pictures.

Seems like zooming out like in some pictures only affects the horizontal line but not the vertical. Looks weird to me.

right, its only if you stretch the windowed client in the horizontal line and NOT in the vertical. Than you have the effect of a wide screen but you loose also something in the vertical line...

adding a fish-eye lens to any kind of side-scroller is extremely problematic. It works for floating-camera points of view (like skyrim) because:

- corners of the FoV aren't anchored
- We're used to some amount of negative zoom in our own human vision

can't have fish-eye in a fixed top-down camera view. It would look VERY STRANGE. All you can do is change aspect ratio / zoom.

Also Fish Eye effect is just awful to look at. If a fish eye type FoV is to be introduced I'd like an option to toggle that off.

Also I rather like the idea of enemies being able to attack from off-screen, it adds to the atmosphere.

I have a 1280x1024 monitor and feel we need a little help with view distance. Widescreen players have a lot more lateral view. Would it be possible for 4:3 ratio resolutions to have more vertical view (and thus not feel like we are playing very zoomed in?).
Atm I'm using black borders (1280x800 res) but the text is very tiny this way.

I know some would feel that this way we might have a slight advantage with increased view area, but maybe a middleground can be found. Maybe have an checkbox in display settings for this feature?

I guess if you are playing on a laptop with 1366 by w/e it corresponds to means that you simply wont see as much as people playing on large monitors
