Announcing Path of Exile: Synthesis
While I'm disappointed (but not surprised) to see you release yet another league which heavily rewards builds which mindlessly blow shit up and heavily punishes builds which play tactically, that is not my chief concern.
My chief concern is whether you are going to willfully harm Standard players yet again by rendering their map stash tabs non-functional with the new content. The simplest solution is to make existing map tabs in Standard REMOVE-ONLY and then issue those players a fresh one. You could do even more if you wanted to make it a priority for the team, but anything less than that is decidedly unethical. Remember when "ETHICAL MICROTRANSACTIONS" was your mantra? I do. Yes, yes, it all looks very interesting. I have two big questions, though:
1) Will 3.6 address the game's stability issues? It really shouldn't take two or three tries to start a game of PoE. I know that you'd said, when 3.5 dropped, that the huge increase in traffic had exposed structural issues which couldn't be addressed by simply adding more servers, but that was months ago -- have those issues been addressed for the new release? Because the constant crashes are really sucking a lot of the fun out of this game. 2) With 3.6 dropping DX9 support, effectively killing the game for Linux users, have you been working to improve PoE's compatibility with tools like Wine and Proton to fill in that gap? I can understand if Linux users are too few in number to warrant a separate Linux client, but I would hope that you have given this issue some thought before eliminating the only compatibility tool that Linux PoE players had available. Or, 2a) With the PS4 version of 3.6 also due to release alongside the PC and XBox versions, has your experience with the PS4's Orbis environment (which is basically a Linux distro) given you the confidence to just release a Linux client? You know, since you now have a Linux client anyway, and have to maintain it? Either of those options would be acceptable. The answers may not be as critical for 3.6 (i.e. now) as they might be for 4.0 (i.e. January, when Windows 7 support ends), but as a PC player who really doesn't want to switch to Windows 10, and who won't be doing so just to play PoE, I have to wonder just how many players would appreciate having any other option. I have a feeling that the number might be a lot larger than you might think. Remember, remember the 6th of December...

gg ggg Nicely done!
I wish you guys remove old league content or atleast make it less rewarding like delve is easy $$$ so we can play more of synthesis
" Lol, so who exactly tells you to DELVE ALL THE TIME? The capitalism ghost? The streamers? The meta? In any case you forgot you have your own will. Really people, just do what you want, not what you think the rest of the worlds wants, this is how you bcome those guys from Wall-E.
" This fallacious argument is quite common on these forums. If I make $13 an hour and my next-door neighbor Bob makes $65 an hour, and we compete with each other to acquire the same vintage Bruce Springsteen T-shirt on E-bay, who do you think is going to win? This "You don't have to do activity XYZ in this economic simulator to compete even though it's 5x more profitable than that activity you enjoy more" argument is naive at best. Relative currency value is a thing. Inflation is a thing. Trade-based competition is a thing. Even as an exclusively SSF player these aspects of the game are readily apparent to me. That's exactly why GGG nerfs the value of certain activities which are considered aberrantly profitable. They don't do it to piss people off. They do it to make the game more fun: I.e., to make doing varied activities just as profitable as doing just one activity over and over again, which few people find fun but many would do anyhow if it were the most profitable thing to do. We don't always feel that they do a good job of this, but the theory stands regardless. This is Game Design 101. Wash your hands, Exile!

I don't get it? Is "Synthesis" expansion if so, what would happen with betrayal league and our characters there?
Before start flaming and sending me link to read this or that, simple and quick answer will do. Thank you and keep in mind i'm occasional player and not very well informed. Last edited by 3eka on Feb 23, 2019, 8:08:16 AM

" As with any other league: Your char will move to Standart. Your char`s vault tabs will move to your Standart league stash, but in take-only mode. Not replace anything. Your Atlas or other older league`s progress will be compared ,and, if your Betrayal progress is better then your Standart chars, Betrayal progress will replace Standart one. If it`s not -no changes.
Effects look great.
Please, please fix the map tabs, I have like five of them just sitting there, and this is going to add another one that can't be removed. Reshuffling the Atlas. Why? It's not fun or engaging to re-do all of the maps every single time. Content itself looks like Delve. Gonna sit this one out.
I am also unsure about Synthesis as it really looks like a remade (better?) Delve? I mean I liked Delve but am unsure how it will feel when both are available and which I would/want to run then. Makes me curious.
While I really love casters and most of my characters are casters, I really hope that the next focus is on everything but casters. I like to experiment with new builds and the last leagues it always felt like casters are so much more focused on and looking at how Elementalist trumps the meta (number-wise) I wished the non-caster and lesser used ascendancies would get more love. Today I've tried almost all available melee skills just to see how they currently feel and many of those really feel like they need a rework. Not even because they are bad, but they just don look as cool/feel as good as most spells. Especially the reworked/new spells. Last edited by MNNoxMortem on Feb 23, 2019, 12:14:22 PM
