Balance Changes in Path of Exile: Betrayal
the real fix would have been to allow shaper sticks to only roll 1 or 2 conversions, not 4.
The only problem with that would have been the creation of unbelievably busted legacy rares in standard but who cares. Last edited by Quizzlemanizzle#2632 on Dec 4, 2018, 7:07:04 AM

F for stat sticks

" Yeah, that hits the nail on the head. It's pretty damn clear that GGG didn't give a single thought to even realize that they'd made a number of uniques that are now 100% useless with that change. We asked for a nerf to stat sticks, and GGG isn't nerfing them at all... But instead deleting fake dual wield, which was an interesting mechanic that could've readily been balanced. That golden line is the icing on the cake: it wasn't fake dual-wield that was the big problem, it was the really, REALLY dumb fact that the #1 skill in Delve (Blade Vortex) was best done by dual-wielding a pair of these broken AF scepters and could get you >300% "more damage," and even a crappy stat stick was superior to using a Divinarius... Y'know, the ostensible "BIS" for the spell? It's pretty clear that GGG barely thinks when they go about patching... Or listens. We asked for a nerf to stat sticks, and they went "no." " GGG may not care (in a thing that's dangerous to the company's longevity) but most players do play Standard. The ratio's actually gotten higher with every league, but everyone keeps quoting the "league-only players exceed players that ever touch standard" figure from back in the beta. The fix that'd allow for a retronerf would be to change those mods by prefacing them, so we have "Attacks with this weapon gain xx% of physical damage as extra ___ damage." If you wanted free damage from holding an offhand weapon, that's what "The Princess, Sabre" is for. " Stat sticks ain't dead, foo. They're still OP as all hell, just now they're only usable for JUST the #1 skill, Blade Vortex. What WAS destroyed was the option to use interesting off-hand uniques. thx for your work
- archetypes are bad. "brands" for hirophant, "impale" for champ, ... it reduces possibilities to use multiple ways of scaling skills. such unique effects or ascendency nodes create a fake diversity while diminishing possibilities to play all skills with all classes. - stat stick nerf is bad, because it leaves blade vortex + stat sticks untouched. it is a nerf to dual wield. - totem change is bad. many totems need to be spread and double casting them is not an improvement, but a downside. - eldritch battery is your reason for "more flat Energy shield [...] on the tree." what? |

Bad times for Hierophants..
Also gem +totem is bad too. Trading useful dmg link\slot for additional totem AND -40% dmg to ALL totems is a RIP for totemancers.. |

" Pretty sure a 15-chaos caster or minion build can triple your clear speed, and you have 200ex worth gear. But noobs say "melee is fine". Seriously, this is complete bullshit balancing. Melee was already in a shit place and they actually found a way to make it even worse. Un-fucking-real. It's aoe nerf all over again. Meanwhile, you're free to oneshot the entire screen with ranged skills. 177 Last edited by toyotatundra#0800 on Dec 4, 2018, 7:35:35 AM

" In the case of Prismatic Eclipse I 100% disagree. Prismatic Eclipse was literally designed to be a one-handed stat stick. Read the mods for crying out loud. And now it's not allowed to be used as such unless your skill can be used with a sword? Really? If something is dumb or silly, this is it. Prismatic Eclipse was designed for this. ======= The following, while nothing to do with your comment, I'm just going to say while here... ======= As to main-hand only skills now using both weapons when dual wielding, that's just outright dumb in and of itself. Now there aren't any main hand only skills and every skill just became Dual Strike or Cleave. Really? Finally, one-handed weapon Shaper/Elder mods are the main "stat stick" problem... for physical spells! So why on earth dual wield "stat stick" melee was castrated, the only real/viable melee in the game, and physical spells "stat sticks" were left unchecked, the real problem, it's no wonder comments like "GGG doesn't play their own game", etc., exist. At first one less totem for Hierophant looks like a nerf.
But i will wait and look for the new passive tree (Thursday?) and see how much impacts the new Brands have and how the interaction with totems works. From the first look a typical build would play like this. Drop 1-2 totems, pre cast 1-x brands, while walking recall ALL brands ,with the new recall-skill, simultaneously (which get larger attachment range) at your location for AOE damge in vicinity and 1-2 totem(s) for support. A more interactive (and faster, if heavly invested in brands) "totem" playstyle than before by the looks?! Masterpiece of 3.16 lore "A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body." Only usable with Ethanol Flasks Last edited by gandhar0#5532 on Dec 4, 2018, 7:53:59 AM
