Skill Reveal: War Banner and Dread Banner
I'm more interested in whether war banner basically functions like vulnerability and has a fall off effect on bosses, or if it's got the same effect on every enemy.
If the latter applies, pure phys builds have just been buffed immensely and by the looks of it, it only reserves like 15% and should be usuable with herald of purity and a blasphemy setup, so that could be pretty powerful. |

Fortify for bow builds and other non-melee builds? More options for summoners (even though they propably dont have the keybind slots free for it)? Sure, i'll take it. Seems like a decent change for champion as well.
Now, i do see another option not being added yet: a banner for mages that gives advantages for selfcasting spells only, like leech for instance. Kinda silly that the only builds i use a skill called warlords mark on is mages. I could also picture future banner skills working out well with charge generation. For instance when a guardian wants to grant frenzy charges to allies or something. Or a banner that somehow interacts with chaos damage or damage over time (either reducing damage taken or increasing damage dealt). |

Here is an Aurabot's take on this:
Dreadbanner: Chance to impale + Enemy Accuracy Debuff | Stack on Impale Warbanner: Accuracy + Enemies take more physical Damage | Stacks on Kill (this is allready overpowered, as physical Builds scale the hardest with Aurabots) So lets just get this out of the way: There is no chance in hell I can consistantly get stacks as an Endgame-Aurabot with Warbanner. If I kill things, something is just wrong. That beeing said, I can just as easyily Curse on Hit with Lancing Steele and get Impale-stacks. Or If I dont use Generosity it would seem my Ball-Lightning can Impale (due to the Banner Effekt?) The next Question is what the stacks scale. It might very well be worth it to simply carry a Warbanner all day without the stacks IF that just increases the Duration. In any way this Banners will fit nicely into my Victariou's Influence where the reservation is further reduced. As I dont see myself stacking up the Warbanner past lvl 30 I will just switch to Dread asap and Curse on hit useing Lancing Steele. Now for the more interesting Question: IF Generosity works on the Banner, they either rework the Gem to work on Auras AND Banners, or Banners have the Aura-Tag. (they Might well have it in the Second Stage at least). Well fuck me if Banners get the Aura-Tag. Having whatever Banner with 140% Aura-Effekt PLUS Stacks shall be interesting. I already pump an obscene Grace Aura + Enfeeble so enemys will barely hit anything. Add to that a possible Blind and it seems very nice. On the otherhand the Increased physical Damage Taken (if Aura Effects Scale that up) sounds OP if you play a culling Aurabot... |

First all, thanks GGG for giving us something that isn't inspired on a certain old legend of this genre (let's see when you reveal the freeze orb...). It's not like is hasn't work for years, but having like 50 inspired / plagiated skills from there is enough. Even if not 100% original, THIS is the way.
About the skills themselves, let's see how much mana it reserves. It's not fully clear to me if we can take the banner back once placed, or if we'll have to cast and stack a new one. Appart from it, buffs look fine, connected with what the game lacks the most... fine. Good skills here. Champion ascendancy changes... basically you have removed the inspiration from being champion only, and gave him a buff to banter using, alongside with the fortity buff that they already have. It's nice and fair. Specialized but not exclusive, that's the way ascendancies are supposed to work, so this is a step on the right direction. By this point.

People complaining about giving this buff to champions... are you trying to say that only berserkers can use warcries? Only chieftains and hierophants can use totems, only occultists can use curses, or elementalists golems. Only saboteurs can use traps and mines and so on, right? You can also say that only pathfinders can use flasks, deadeyes bows, slayers 2H and gladiators and guardians shields, isn't it? Omg... people even complain about having mechanics that work better for certain ascendancies, but don't complain about having mechanics absolutely locked for any other ascendancy... fuck the logic. If complaining was a sport, I see many gold medals over here.
Please, stop it. Casters got brands + winter orb + most reworked skills are spells, melee got banters, ranged got steel skills (sorry GGG, but you know they're not melee). It's fair, and it's a lot of content. And yes, you have no extra keybinds for all this content, maybe because you're not supposed to use it all on the same character! Just as side note: both banters are too similar. They're ugly af, I guess this is intended to sell some MTX, but there are more than one way to make things ugly xD. dread banner looks like a nice buff to pure physical attack builds. unfortunately, seems not to apply to EK and this skill feels so underloved.
now, how can we abuse chance to impale on generic skills? Impale adds damage on hit based on the physical damage that applied impale (10k phys hit with impale=1k added to the next 5 attacks). Okay, assume we have a very hard hitting skill. and we added a barrage next to it which inflicts 5 hits in a very short amount of time...could we abuse this interaction? like slow hit + barrage? |
