Take it for what you will. I think it's fine. You could look into it another way and just ignore the dab.

Who is the poet that lies dead? Is it the poet Victario? His friend Lorenzi had a gem implanted in their hand by Malichai and Victario noticed his friend wasn't the same after. Could he have been murdered for suspicion? He was among the wealthy in the empire and stole from Emporeror Chitus. Is what we see in the divination card A Dab of Ink a result of Victario being caught stealing by the empire and chose to use his blood in writing decrees or laws while waving away the servant bringing the master's dinner? Is this master Kalisa Maas?

The card fits the game lore in this aspect in my opinion.
