{3.10} Speaker for the Dead | The Mass Minion Summoner | League Starter, Leveling Guide 💀

Just started mapping, and like before I'm having a blast. I love Cyclone xD...my gear is terrible though, anyone got a good crafting guide, cheatsheet or resource that's noob friendly? The crafting table is easy but everything else gets so complicated :O

Note that lightning is the best choice here.

Fire & lightning setup with slave drivers:
- change ball lightning with summon raging spirit + spell echo
- use slave drives as spectres
- change hatred to Wrath for extra lightning damage with slave drivers

Lighting & fire setup with solar gaurds:
- use solar gaurds as spectres
- change hatred to anger for extra Fire damage with solar gaurds

- optional: change ball lightning to arc & spell echo OR use any cold projectile/spell -> GMP for projectiles -> spell echo for spells!

For slave drivers and EE, there's also the option to put one point into Avatar of Fire and use whatever to trigger it, but not ideal if you use SRS obviously.

To solve this, we use the Mistress of Sacrifice ascendancy combined with L1 CWDT (Level 1 Cast When Damage Taken Support) to trigger a L1 Desecrate and a L8 Spirit Offering. Mistress causes our Offerings to affect us, and the key component of Spirit Offering for us is it grants 3% of Life as Extra Energy Shield per consumed corpse, up to 15% for 5 corpses.

We can achieve ~2000 flat life, ~200% life, and ~200% ES. So Spirit Offering works out to grant us (2000 * 0.15 * 5 =) 1500 ES. This not only increases our total ES, but also heals our ES for the same amount. Meaning we gain 1500 ES back every time Spirit Offering triggers.

Hello,

Thanks for the guide !

I have a question though : where does the 5 in (2000 * 0.15 * 5) comes from ?
The 5 corpses is already taken into account in the 0.15 since it’s 0.03x5
Am I missing something ?

The 5 is the 100% base + 200% life and 200% ES from tree and gear affecting the the flat ES from the Spirit Offering activating.

You can more or less confirm the formula by:
  • looking at your pob to see how much % life and % es you have (I have 178% and 104%)
  • computing your base life from your pob (i have about 2200)
  • in your ho, manually cast desecrate then spirit offering (unsocket CWDT and CWC) and check how much more ES you get (I get about 1200)
  • I my case the formula becomoes 2200 * 0.15 * 3.8 = 1200 which is about what I get as additional ES with spirit offering.

So, SRS in CwC Cyclone with lightning dmg on hit somewhere (rings) or Ball lightning instead of SRS to proc EE ?
What is the most efficient in your opinion? For bossing and clearspeed ?

Thanks for the wonderful build, I'm having a blast and it's really fun!

SRS might add a bit for bossing as on bosses you should generate charges enough with your melee cyclone; for clear ball lightning should be better (more coverage on applying EE and easier to hit monsters often enough to keep the charges).

SRS adds 20 minions to the build though, so it's very thematic (I'm at 99 max - or well will be when my phantasm gem is level 20), but mine do only 15k dps each.

Though when/if I get fortify boots, I'm thinking of dropping them to focus on the one thing that kills me, which is lag, and using Cyclone+CWC+Desecrate+Spirit Offering (with mass lag, with cyclone going on I should still survive). Then that'd free up essentially the 4 sockets in gloves (well 3 as I don't use purifying flames and socketed convocation there, I like having it).
Generally speaking regularly it feels that CWDT does not trigger correctly, or sometimes will cast desecrate and spirit offering so far away it does not affect me; sometimes though it constantly pops up and it's great. The CWDT setup also has absolutely no effect when you are degening from some damage source :/

I'm still pretty curious about specter options. I tried out Frost Sentinels and while they certainly attack from a longer range than Fire-raisers, I don't think it actually felt like they were doing more damage or killing things faster. I'm also curious about Slave Drivers, because for whatever reason they're very popular right now but I can't seem to find any explanation behind that.

Using frost sentinels after testing fire raiser (as others said, too slow to attack, especially without unending hunger), was much nicer. Damage wise it's probably not the best, but really good coverage, and they tend to shatter monster a lot so safer with spikes from monsters).

Slave drivers seem to really have insane damage (especially single target, but with a really great clear as well).

I've been running the lightning build for a while and the primary issue is that Hatred is just so much better than Wrath for us in terms of damage (like 3x greater effect or something according to PoB).

Slave drivers are very high dps, but even with increased aoe support, their clear leaves much to be desired. For that reason, I think I'm going to try to move to a 2G2W (or 3G1W if I can think of what to do with the green slots) triad grip build soon. This should let me move back to either fire-raisers or solar guards for the clear while being socket efficient. Overall dps should still be higher because I'm using Hatred instead of Wrath. 4W might be the best in the end but don't want to drop 4 ex on those gloves yet.

I ended up experimenting a bit with the Triad Grip variant. I swapped to Frost Sentinel spectres to capitalize on Elemental Army exposure + 100% cold damage skeletons. The damage is there but honestly, it doesn't feel better than Grip of the Council. I'll have to crunch numbers to see if it's an actual damage gain, but even if it is I'll probably stick with Grip. It just feels wrong losing access to CwC Ball Lightning for EE, as well as having to proc EE with Flame Dash and fortify with Whirling Blades.

Plus, I feel like if I'm going to use Triad's Grip to convert skeletons to 100% cold, I need to go balls deep and try to roll my shaper Unset Ring to curse with Frostbite on hit, and that's... more than I want to deal with right now lol.
there is no Slave driver on the POB manage spectres option? how do I check the dps then?
What would be the best oil recipe enchant to put on neck ?

Well after testing (replaced skitter bots with discipline and ended up removing holy relic, then used the 4l for the golem with minion damage / multi / faster attacks), survivability is just now a no brainer essentially (5k life, 4k es with spirit offering, I could have lasted forever in chimera cloud phase with damage mods), I do feel a noticeable reduced clear speed without the SRS. Still plenty of damage though, but the little bugger did some damage noticeable damage and were great for stragglers. If I was to use the build in HC, I'd definitely go with the CWC+Desecrate+SO combo.
Uber Elder's down. Took me two tries, though, because I'd never done Uber Elder before. It was fun! This build definitely has more than enough DPS for it. It's just a matter of being able to see the things you need to dodge despite the arena being cluttered with skeletons and fireballs. Now I can finally map in peace without worrying about influence.
