Except sometimes the way forward is not in the upper right corner at all.

Rightfully so imo, let's not make the labyrinth even less of a labyrinth than what it already is please.
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

The true Labyrinth is found within your mind when you go through this. You need to apply mental gymnastics to avoid the traps of loathing while finding the way to enjoyment.
Carry on my waypoint son, there'll be peace when maps are done.
Lay your portal gem to rest, don't you die no more.

'Cause it's a bitter sweet symphony this league.
Try to make maps meet, you're a slave to the meta, then you leave.

If they are testing the build,

Then why dont I have to complete lab trials in Quest aresas like crypt, crematorium or lab trials in maps?

The whole system is broken.

Ability to dodge traps serves NOTHING. Only thing that praparing you to maps is Kitava. You can do it over and over again it's not gated behind currency or time wasting areas.

Lab is test for build and for character and in my opinion can prepare to maps much better then Kitava, which can prepare you to Belfry or Lava lake, that’s all. Moreover, lab tests the character for usefulness in maps or for bosskilling ability. In these days there is only one key factor on maps – clearspeed. To clear map fast character must move fast. If character is able to move fast enough, lab traps are nothing for it. Then – it past the test, can do maps. If char dies on traps, I’m sorry, it will not clear maps fast enough to achieve some higher levels, at least without rotations. If character can trivialize traps due to very high armor/life regain, then it is suitable bosskiller. Got such juggernaut. Movement speed +100 without flasks, 60k+ armor. Horrible clearspeed but can facetank every boss except Erradicator, Shaper, Uber Atz and Uber Elder. To conclude, if character can’t handle lab, then it will fail in (red) maps due to low clearspeed, low dps and too low life. In opposite, any good developed character has no problem with lab. I can farm it even with my evasion based ele hit archer. Traps are trivialized by movement speed, Izaro is oneshooted. That’s all.

If Kitava is only testing for Belfry and Lava Lake then lab is only testing for Pier and may be Orchard.(boos attacks are like Izaro's)

A good player can complete uber lab without taking a single trap damage.
But it doesnt show that he wont take any damage from red maps.

Taking damage from red maps and taking damage from traps are completely unrelated.

Not completely, they both boil down to good or bad positioning.
Which matters even more in the lab, but is somewhat important while mapping ( if you zoom zoom zoom offscreen everything, a bit less ... but there are still things that can kill you ).

Timing to some extent is another thing there too.
