Hi, I took a look at your character, here is what you can do to upgrade your damage greatly.


First
See if you have this affix on your Crafting Bench

"Adds (12–16) to (23–27) Fire Damage to Spells"
(Important to have the "to Spells" words)

Here's a picture

If you don't have it, look for the recipe, it's located at "The Crematorium[L25]" in Act 3


Second
Look for Two rare one handed weapons with "+1 to Level of all Fire Spell Skill Gems" with "an open prefix" so you can craft the above affix on it

Here is a search link I did for you that you can copy paste, I have set the currency to 1 chaos or less and some other parameters

Look for some nice ones and buy 2 of them, make sure both is the same type(Wand, Sceptre or Dagger) as you cannot dual wield different type for these weapons.

Important
*Do note the Str/Int/Dex requirement and make sure you have enough before purchasing it(I did set the numbers for you already but take a look just in case).


Third
Once you bought both weapons, craft the "Adds (12–16) to (23–27) Fire Damage to Spells" on both. It cost 4 Orb of Transmutation per craft so you will need 8 Orb of Transmutation.

Holy fire totem...


When i used this build on 3.8 3.9, only smite and two-handed from the floor. That’s all it took to get to elehit and ballista.
After take ehit and ballista, wait drop chaos, take splinter (1 chaos) quill rain (1 alt) and go ballista rush. Then cut lightning with jewel (2-3 chaos), after cut ice with jewel and take avatar on tree.

Now u are firestarter. Go to frostferno.

was looking at your POB, have some questions. playing it and liking it.

1. noticed that Combat Focus (Cold) is in the wrong socket slot maybe? swap with the Rain of Splinters?

2. why does the POB shows that DPS greatly increases if we remove any of the Combat Focus gems?

3. which nodes do you suggest to remove in order to make a path to the clusters?

From my initial testing, it seems like Ironwood might not be needed anymore. I will make the necessary changes once I confirm it.

You don't need points to be allocated to Str/Int passive to enable the Combat Focus (Cold). As long as there is enough Str/Int in the jewel's radius, even if unallocated, it will work.

I would suggest the following
- 4 points from Farsight Notable area,
- 2 points from Ironwood Notable and
- 1 point from one of the small life passive(From either Juggernaut or Bloodless)

That will be enough to go for a 4 Passive Skill Medium Cluster Jewel(where we can get the Sleepless Sentries Notable from)

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

The Combat Focus Jewel has "Elemental Hit and Wild Strike deal 50% less Cold/Lightning Damage" so when you remove it, DPS will go up.

But in reality, it actually becomes lower in our case.

This is because after we remove a Combat Focus Jewel, say the Cold one, we now alternate between Fire and Cold damage.

But remember we have Avatar of Fire, which makes Cold does no damage.

Therefore the DPS you see is actually happening only half the time, which means the actual value of the DPS is half.

Which means POB is calculating the DPS wrongly? one thing i did, i edited the Combat Focus jewel to remove the first and second mod, keep the last mod (which happens to be in red font). The Jewel has no effect to the DPS. So... our damage would be even more elevated in reality compared to the POB? But wait, why do we need Avatar of Fire when Ele Hit will only choose Fire, as there are no other elements to convert to fire? So we need to double the effect of Avatar of Fire since Avatar of Fire is converting 50% of the other elements, but actually it is 100% since we are only dealing fire? i'm sorry guys... i'm thinking out loud here...

Anyways, at the stage my character is in, he is clearing mobs extremely easily, despite messing up my tree (waiting to buy some regret orbs) and noob gears.

Strength or Intelligence will be enough to fulfill the requirements/threshold. I know it says "And" in the jewel but that's how it actually works.(Don't quote me)

POB is correct. It has a dropdown menu when Elemental Hit is selected, and on the menu, you can select the type of Element. If you switch to cold there, you can see the actual DPS for cold(Will be zero if Avatar of Fire is taken).

Even though Ele Hit is just not selecting Cold, the Cold damage is still there to be "used". So Avatar of fire is there to convert all the "unused" Element to Fire.

Hey Vei! Read through this today and absolutely loved it. Outstanding job mate keeping this going in the comments you're a champ. I sadly started out running the holy flame totem build and just finished storyline and decided I wanted to switch over to this.

My question for you is do you think I would have a major DPS/survivability loss if I Helped Alira??? I would love not to start over just for the sake of a damn bandit but if that's going to put a limit on what I can achieve you got to do it yeah know :) Worried since everyone's going so tight on the skill points with these new clusters.

Got it. The total of both stats added together. Not each of the Stats.

This i don't get. Yeah I only refer to the Fire DPS. If I edit out the first 2 text in the Combat Jewel, POB does not show any difference in DPS. Fire projectiles are more frequent and therefore DPS will increase right. It the ballista was shooting “Fire Fire Cold” in 1 seconds, now it will be shooting “Fire Fire Fire”, there should be a difference in DPS. I’m sorry I don’t get it. I think I understand how it works in game, but I don’t see how POB is calculating that.

Fortunately, GGG implemented a way to "respec" our choices for the bandits in one of the patches in the past so we don't need to restart from scratch! It's a bit costly though.

To change our choice to a specific bandit/Eramir, we vendor the following to get a Book of Reform(For the specific favour we need)

20 x Orb of Regret + 1 Onyx Amulet = Grants Eramir's favour(The one u need)
20 x Orb of Regret + 1 Amber Amulet = Grants Oak's favour
20 x Orb of Regret + 1 Jade Amulet = Grants Kraityn's favour
20 x Orb of Regret + 1 Lapis Amulet = Grants Alira's favour

A confirmation window will pop up informing you of which rewards you will gain and lose.
