Will it work attack totems like Ancestral Warchief?
Would be interesting to use as unarmed.
The physical damage will be added to totem hits. The only possible exception would be if it's added specifically to attacks with a weapon, in which case it's not added to unarmed attacks.

Totems don't trigger on kill effects unless the mob is killed by damage over time. (Except for the few that explicitly say totem kill.)

On hit effects usually work on totems. I'm not 100% sure this one will, though.

That's if totem mechanics don't change in 3.4.0, of course.

Makes me wonder if the reworked ancestral warchief will be a sentinel of some sort.

Where did they say AW was getting reworked?
One of the 10 gems on the Delve announcement page looks like Ancestral Warchief. Some think it's Vaal Ancestral Warchief, others think it's a rework.

Next up: Chaos Herald.

BTW, am I the only one who was expecting this? 'Physical Herald' seems to have blindsided a lot of people, despite so much demand for it...
You're not alone.

Physical and chaos versions were basically planned since the inception of Heralds.

During an interview in Episode 15 of the State of Exile podcast, GGG-Developers Carl and Rory mentioned that three more Heralds other than the then-released Herald of Ash and Ice were in the works. The names given were Herald of Thunder (Lightning), Herald of Stone (likely Physical) and Herald of Anarchy (likely Chaos).

Upon release of the next major patch after this interview, which introduced the Herald of Thunder as seen above, GGG stated that the other two Heralds were not ready and were put on an indefinite hold, as they were either not interesting enough or did not fit into the game for another reason.

Thank you!
Yep, minions doesn't fit well with a physical herald, as it is more a summoner need than a brute one.
Well, it doesn't fit at all in fact, useless for brute, and also useless for summoner as summoner doesn't do physical dmg.
It will be better to have some physical effect on kills, maybe some extra dmg, some gore, things like that, like others heralds.
I don't think minions will be useful for a warrior that does already 10k+ area dmg in a blow.

All this free distraction for GGG. Most of you are missing the point while focusing on trivia.

Reminder: The one and only reason the top 19 slots of the ladder aren't all rangers is because they force it one per class. Honestly, there's magic find speed clear ranger and then there's everything else. Unless the trade sector gets a massive rework nothing is gonna change. It'll still be clear speed quantity meta in whatever form the engine currently allows.

GGG still has a massive crush on the hot little blond with a gun. (No judgment.) I feel like I'm finally getting closer to actually walking away from this game.

They aren't gonna close the gap between mobs and rares and bosses.

They aren't gonna displease their wallstreet wannabe merchant class with an auction house or any disruptive inclusive changes to trade.

They aren't gonna stop drowning players in flotsam to force stash tab sales.

They aren't gonna introduce anything like viable deterministic farming.

They aren't gonna stop exploiting your emotions with casino-level environment/meta manipulation tactics.

In short the quantity clear speed trader meta is here to stay and it is objectively the best build/approach in terms of account progression.

A sufficiently rich player can essentially buy any other build in a day.

Any other build in terms of account progression is literally a waste of time.

And doing anything with it other than streaming is literally a waste of money.
Too much censorship that you never even see. Totally removed posts and silenced accounts across all communities. https://www.youtube.com/@Innomen

I can see the possible builds already.... but first off... questions.

1. Will Herald of Purity be part of physical damage? I'm curious on how to scale the damage.

2. How would we scale "herald of purity?" I mean, will it take on increase physical damage attributes or rely on minion/spectre increase damage attributes?
So, we're about to have a herald which is very well suited for a niche build that few will probably ever play.

But, with the minions joined at the hip to this herald the "of chaining" affix on maps becomes problematic for every other physical-based and physical / poison based build out there (and that's a lot of builds, affecting potentially quite a few skills). This narrows the "major" pantheon options down to one functional choice, which needs to be upgraded so characters don't get destroyed by large missile-based spawns that chain their projectiles.

Perhaps another herald (ie: Herald of Force or Herald of Earthstone) could be introduced that just does physical damage scaling, without minions limiting options for the wide variety of physical-based builds out there.
Now that prestige classes will finally leave lab in 4.0, will GGG get it right this time or will they find new ways to repeat old mistakes?

Finally a "purity" themed skilled plus the rework of dominating blow will finally make this combination I've always admired work. I've always wanted a "anti-corruption" type character.

Is it possible to support the minions without sending the mana reservation through the roof? I'm curious if this is intended to be usable as a primary skill, or if it's just a damage buff that also spawns meat shields.
This looks like Spirit guardians from DnD
vaal double strike in steroid?
