Preview of Water Tech Improvements

You are improving the water so much, that I expect some Ocean league soon:)
As much as I love all the water improvements, how about some for the foliage/greenery?
I would like to know, if we get a popup window when we make our decision to get from one checkpoint to the other one. One that shows the level we will expect to encounter. Maps have their tiers and you said delving would lead to even higher itemlevel bases.

Just curious if we see the level of the mobs before we decide to make the trip to the checkpoint or if we just see it through the items we loot and look at the itemlevel. The atlas has some of these small windows I am talking about as well :D
looks good!

Here are some questions that might be helpful for the FAQ. Some have already been answered, but it'd be helpful for those who haven't caught the answers through streamers, Baeclast, etc.

  • Is the delve progress bound to the character or account?
  • Can you return to easier parts of the delve if you've gone too far, are soloing after being in a group with a support, etc.?
  • Will the train fuel be tradeable?
  • For someone who wants to maximize their time in the delve, what fraction of their playtime will be in maps gathering fuel versus delving?
  • Will delve or train progress be shared with party members?
  • How many challenges must be done on your own atlas or delve? The delve league seems like it'll strongly encourage party play, and it can be frustrating for people who run support characters to not be able to get all the challenges without rolling another toon, no matter how good the group is. This is because in practice, one person in the group will be the one with the best delve, so the group will always favor running that delve.
  • What's the absolute maximum speed for the train? Will it be able to keep up with a 650ms lab runner?
  • What's the minimum speed for the train?
  • What will the packsize be like in delves? Two extremes are modern Strand (nearly empty) vs. fully sextanted Underground Sea (monsters galore).
  • Will we be able to summon spectres with ilvl > 84 in a delve?

Now THESE are some good questions. I get kinda irked when like >75% of the questions being posted are ones where the answer is either obvious or outright known to anyone that has any understanding the game already.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if at least one of your questions might not have even been properly considered by GGG internally when designing the mechanic.

And even still, all of them are important information for the community to know. Well done!

RIP gpu fan.
97*C at breach or abyss effects now.
Imagine that PLUS water...

GTX 970 - ultra low settings. Still not good enough.
Sucks to be poor playing a free game without $5000 pro gaming rig internal cooler dual gpu etc.

It's not the game, it's your hardware; something's busted on your system, man.

I play with a first-gen i7-equivalent-Xeon and a GTX 750. Settings are maxed, and I get a pretty constant 60FPS.

Should not cause any frame drops? :\

To translate: "It didn't cause any problems on ANY of the systems we tried it on. But we know that some people have friggin' weird systems that will find any excuse to run worse."

So they're saying it's an improvement on performance, but they won't bet money against Murphy's Law.

I like that there is a focus on improving the graphics. Please make it a foucs of yours to improve the overall performance of the game as well!!. Looking forward to the new expansion!!!

The new graphical effects ARE part of it.

There's not just this dial for "make it run faster;" improving performance requires re-writing visual effects code. And while they were at it, they realized they could make a better code that gives better-looking visuals that still performs better than the old code.

Will skill gems scale with the depth one gets to? Will going deeper will improve my gems?

What is this even supposed to mean? Your gems gain EXP as you do. Therefore they'll gain EXP as you do while delving.

Delve Questions

1) How will the scaling occur? Will it be by monster level? If so, have you considered how that will affect leveling?

2) How will corpse explosion damage work? Will the additional monster life be factored into the damage or will it work like it does when playing in a party? If the additional life is factored in, then doesn't that overly advantage corpse explosion builds?

3) How will the leaderboards work with patches? If a broken build is patched, then does that reset the leaderboard? Will only the people using the broken skill/mechanic be removed from the leaderboard? Or will they just stay on it?

These are good questions as well. Granted, the answers are kinda self-evident to some of us, but definitely ones that the community should be taught:

  • Back in 2.0.3, GGG showed that they could de-couple monster levels for EXP from their actual level. (from that patch onward, T5+ maps actually give EXP as if LESS than their actual monster level)

  • Granted, some skills usually have an edge over others in certain situations anyhow. So I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case where VD becomes the "safe" bet for doing level 100+.

  • GGG has never done build-related balancing in the middle of a league, so it should make no impact on ladders... At least for challenge league ladders, which are really the only ones anyone cares about.

MY FPS .... It Hurts!!
why do this again ? i already update my PC 1 do i need to do that again ? instead fix the ` cant enter this instance bug ` ? why don`t u try to do that
PS if u keep improve the quality of water that no one stare at it when doing quests or maps
u should make improvements of something that a normal player can enjoy
something like a mini cinematic after each boss act kill that will be something better then to stare hours at water how it flows.........
