3.3 OBEY THE ORB (Orb of Storms - based build, SSF)

I think yes, it either die as soon as the update gets implemented, or as late as they slap an cd on tempest shield.

This was my most succesfull build so far, i will miss it for sure :C

hey thanks for this build, really creative and fun to play i really hope the changes with instant casting don't effect the build and its still workable since i planned on using this in delve, either way its been fun and is always a treat to play unique builds like this.
"We've made a large number of effects instant, mostly buff effects. Most of these are reservation effects, to make applying your auras and heralds faster, but we've also applied this to Molten Shell, Phase Run, Blood Rage, Convocation and Righteous Fire."

Tempest Shield isn't mentioned by name so maybe there's hope that the archetype isn't dead.

Emphasis mine. Tempest shield applies a buff so maybe it was included, just not mentioned there. Let's wait and see.
With the newest news, it seems like Tempest shield is excluded for now. So maybe this build will be possible next league again:)

It shouldn't be dead anyway, the Quillrain variant will still be viable.

I whipped up a Path of Building tree with terrible ssf gear that runs at 10 attacks per second at 6k damage per zap, with a ton of room for improvement. https://pastebin.com/bg5MeJhg

Probably a little less defensive, but using quill means it's easy to stack up life on hit and stuff like blind, curse on hit, elemental equilibrium, etc.

No changes to Tempest Shield in the patch notes so the build lives!

EDIT: Also, Orb can now be supported by traps/totems/mines/etc. Not sure if that changes anything (I'm guessing you can't get multiple orbs simultaneously this way).

The problem with quill rain is, that it is by far less effective. I did the quill rain variant one league before, and it was terrible, almost unplayable.

It has 3 downsides.

1: Slower in two ways, orb of storm itself does not scale with attackspeed, and slower base attack speed. Also if you scale attackspeed, you loose alot of opportunities to scale spelldamage in the passive tree.

2: Less defenses, you need to wear a bow, and cant wear a shield.

3: Less power, you cant wear a caster weapon and/or shield.

Its awefull with quillrain, to a point where even i dont play it, and trust me, i play realy inefficent builds (for example, frostwall totem hirophant)
