Tencent has Invested in Grinding Gear Games

You're actually right and I'm wrong in my example. Maybe it makes more sense if we think of them as profit tags!

You sir should keep buying supporter packs (or profit tags?). I know the $86-some-odd billion dollar owner will personally care and thank you for it (I know I'm right on this one).

I don't expect gratitude. I support a game that I personally enjoy and that I want to grow further in the future. So I don't care that maybe 3 dollars of my 60 dollar pack go to a multibillion dollar company (ur right: They don't know me and they don't care about me) and 40 cents to Chris. In the end, over 56 dollars will go to the programmers, the art designers, the marketing, the server infrastructure, etc..

How to proceed with PoE? I don't know. The future will show that. I play the game as long as I enjoy it and if that's not the case I quit.

But at the end of the day, we should stop witch hunting and spreading untruths. Just my 2 cents. ;)

Did you miss the part where GGG said they were not bound to do sweet fuck all for Tencent except report some financials and give them a part of their profits? Most of the money will just be reinvested into support for the game as it always has been.

And if "corporate" rubs you the wrong way, that's on you, not on the rest of us who only care for how this game will go forward from here. GGG aren't obliged to do anything to please anybody, and the fact that they put up the details of this deal in public is already far more than most companies would be willing to do. As for getting the actual contract, fat chance, though, because that's how business works.

I also really love how you choose to describe the players who have some optimism despite their caution (which by the way, includes me as well in every aspect) as battered children, when we've voiced our own criticisms and concerns often enough over the years, the majority of which have been addressed by GGG and the devs.

If the game dies as a result of its players choosing not to support it, don't come back expressing empty regrets about what could have been if the players just decided to for once not whinge about what GGG does.

Check Exiled's post history before you waste your time. They'll twist your words, accuse you of being a parrot and take any offense they can glean from what you write. Even if you were describing humanity as a whole or the human condition be prepped for it to be taken personally.

Our dance ain't done Ex, you poked an angry bear from multiple directions and continue to be unable to see past your nose. Neither of those can I stand for, I've taken that as personally as you take everyone's thoughts and opinions... and I really can't stomach it.

Edit: Upon further inspection reading comprehension is also hit or miss.

I thought you said something about quitting while you were ahead for the night? This doesn't appear to change anything about that statement, does it?

Surely you aren't suggesting that I'd leave you here to spout the same drivel when it takes mere moments to deflate your position.

I could care less about my position, what I do care about is that I'm sick of the wailing and gnashing of teeth that occurs with every single update and balance patch or business change in the last year, which to my knowledge has never been worse than any period since the closed beta. The same wailing and gnashing of teeth junked an entire content patch, congratulations reddit. Suggestions about how to fix it while maintaining the same flow of gameplay we already have might have helped it to survive instead of getting dumpstered until further notice, because surprise, the concept was *good*, just not well implemented.

It's like GGG can't please anybody nowadays without brickbats being flung every which way in their direction depending on what they put out, or if your toys get taken away (shaper/elder stygian belts, elder rings on the map, etc.), without calls of "no more support because my build/items were ruined" which is frankly hilarious to me. Make a new broken build among the tens of dozens littering the build threads.

Maybe the take home lesson is no matter how much of a good thing is there, if there's no price to it, it's easier to despise and wash your hands off with.

Congratulations on tossing all those prior issues and this one in the same tiny head shaped box and shaking them about.

There has been both a massive amount of vitriol and support on these forums that's no lie. What that means is sometimes people get confused as to why they are seeing it.

This and those are not the same. Time will show you. I'm here to save others some of their time and I genuinely am enjoying myself.

Don't be. It's an investment decision. This should simply provide secure funding for future development for the game.
However, it needs to be noted that Tencent do have a reputation for P2W and mass microtransactions.

There's no need to panic, just be aware that GGG need to keep their eye on the ball.

Yeah well people should care where their $ goes. Maybe you do not and that's your right but people should care or be taught to care. Some guy on reddit found a snippet of David Brevik providing insight in to how Tencent operates. The TLDR is that they front-load the cash for a bunch of GGG's development expenses for the next few years. Your $56 dollars is already covered. I mean sure they will gladly take it off of your hands but it no longer goes the long way you think it goes. I mean I personally ask the cashier at least one question when they say some shit like "would you like to round up to donate to starving children?" or "would you like to donate $1 to the hurricane relief fund?" What children and what fucking hurricane am I donating to? I try and at least ask so I know who what, and where. But there are a bunch of people who clearly don't even ask and just say 'sure.' Companies love people like that.

✰CARD✰ The Survivalist
I can’t buy any more big supporter packs because the forum only supports showing 7 legacy tags.

Only in China, they never move they P2W or mass microtransactions outside of China.
Main source of money comes for them in China. So they just want to have rights for China server and put they P2W there.
Do not worry about us. We will be clear.
