Tencent has Invested in Grinding Gear Games
" I understand completely what you're saying, but all I'm saying is that they agreed that they won't be making any dramatic changes outside of the Chinese server. Sure they can if they REALLY wanted to, and PoE is much much more likely to change now than it ever was before, but they agreed to keep the international server in favor of the major playerbase. GGG knows what's best for us in the international version, I guess they just thought since they don't have 100% control over the Chinese version anyway, who cares? I understand the risk and I understand what usually happens to companies when they sell majority shares, but all I'm saying is that they have a stable agreement, and I'd rather trust their agreement than assume the worst, especially after the acquisition of Riot Games, I've seen LoL before and after the deal, everything that ever changed was only in the interest of the original developers, not Tencent. Aside from that, I've visited GGG HQ in person, I'm pretty sure they'd rather anything than let PoE go p2w. |

WOW GGG this is a shocker!!! Never saw this one coming! But I am sure this idea has been on the table for quite sometime. Obviously this company (TENCENT) has been watching you for awhile, and taken notice of your success, quality, and devotion of its fans and playing community. They are investing, that I believe is a good thing, (you need cash to grow a company) but 80% that is huge! I agree with others, I would of done 49% and kept that slight majority in your control. But only time will really tell if this was wise or not. We the fans, the POE family are holding our breath on this one.
Waiting to exhale...a fan since closed beta! Keep up the good work! |

" That is a uncalled for, yes it how you feel but grow up its not that bad..We will have to wait and see how this will influence POE. This will have a effect on how many supporter pack will be bought i'm sure, so the logic thing to do here is to maybe make the supporter packs and micro transaction cheaper now. |

" Tencent has been a part of POE for some time now Well on the Chinese side any how so it was just a matter of time. |

Most people buy supporter packs to 'look cool' as I did. However; I always justified the price tag by telling myself I'm supporting an Indi. It'll be much harder for me to justify the price tag now.
I will keep playing and enjoying the game as long as it keeps my attention. I actually have little faith in GGG retaining creative control but I'm def hoping for the best. |

So sad. Sorry you could not remain truly independent, whatever the reason was.
Things have already changed. The pay model is awesome and I believe part of what makes it work is the segment who believe they are contributing to independents. Not mega-money corps who deliberately impoverish most of the planet so they can have whatever and whoever they want. Regardless, I hope it was the right decision for the creators of POE. |

To be honest, I am very skeptical of this. I would happily support GGG with supporter packs, but now that I would be giving money to Tencent instead, I dunno, I might not be so inclined anymore.
Sure, they might say you are free to control the creative part, but for how long? Under what circumstances? You got a financial obligation to them now, if for some reason they think profits are too low they can change things up however the see fit. I understand the reason though, I am sure the paycehck was great to the previous shareholders. Does not mean I am not sad for the now uncertain future of POE. Yea, cause Chinese companies NEVER lie. If you think this doesn't change EVERYTHING thew you're in for a huge freaking shock and disappointment. RIP POE!!! Not if, but just when is the only question.

Oh well, we had a good run, finding out this startling news only gives me a path to another ARPG, cause the game will be going downhill after this corporation investment. Do you really expect a company that owns a majority stake is not going to interfere the game development head to toe? Anyway, thanks for making the game with varieties.
