Once again: any chance for an automatic trade system? :)
Well, you may be right... but I live in hope there's some human being working in GGG somewhere... ;)
...of course, it could always turn out to be the person who cleans their offices. :-/ | |
The behavior that the current system drives makes it worse for everyone.
The best way to buy a commodity is to send messages to 20 people and pick one that responds. That means there are up to 19 people you have just interrupted for no sale. |
|
Trade system works perfectly as intended and will never be automatic. Its annoyance is also intended, because ... it distracts players from actually playing while they are still in the game. In this way, instead of playing the game (and getting bored with it), players browsing the outside pages like morons, in search of suitable trade offers. Or are distracted, when they trying to sell something. Look at whole process. Player runs map, then gets a buy offer, must kill the monsters currently attacking him as fast as possible, invite the other player to the party (before he changes his mind), open the portal (another wasted seconds if he uses the scrolls). Then he have to find desired item, wait in hideout for counterparty, finalize transaction, throw currency to stash and finally return to map. 1,5 minutes at least. Much time in game, in which characters are able to clear whole map within 2 minutes. That's it.

Introduce AH and RMAH too for the lols and neglect whiners as none of their arguments makes any real sense.
Make this game great! |
|
" you are calling the devs whiners?... it is them who specifically stated their reasons to not have an AH, not the players. ANd to be honest, their reasons don't need to make sense... it's their game, their philosophy, |
|
" Developers are following what they believe will satisfy the majority of their hardcore supporters. Unfortunately it is my opinion that they got this completely wrong in every single possible aspect you look at it. Having comparable levels of automation as D2, while trading almost 20 years onward, on the most successful ARPG of the last 4 years is at least not well thought off for sure... Btw I am just connecting dots here... |

I'm still convinced there MUST be an innovative way to introduce some limited form of asynchronized trading that doesn't carry all the huge problems an AH would bring (I do NOT want a conventional AH). Perhaps a system that still requires engagement from both parties involved, but they don't need to be online at the same time.
Right now, upgrading gear is tough for a number of reasons, including the fact that so many people don't ID rares and therefore deprive the economy of items to sell (see threads where players want auto-pickup for currency, which would make this issue even worse). Making it easier to sell your cheap rares - while still requiring some engagement - would make more people sell them. Prices MIGHT drop for items that are worth a few c right now but I'm not sure by how much given that players still need profit for it to be worth their time. I can't see that blowing up the economy. Or just something for maps and currency only. I don't care one bit if map prices drop. I can't help but laugh when someone argues that wasting your time and being annoyed in a videogame is actually a healthy thing. We all have better things to do than be pissed off by the unproductive (and sometimes overtly hostile) interactions fostered by the current system; GGG must understand that those experiences slow or otherwise limit player retention rates. There are other games that don't torture the player like this. I acknowledge change would need to be done very carefully as PoE's economy is fragile, and once again a conventional AH is a no-go. But there are people much more knowledgeable than I who could come up with SOMETHING, no? We're all in this leaky boat together, people.

" Half of PoE endgame (and not only endgame) ia a torture and so far... works perfectly. Want to get to uber Atziri? Hello, you have to kill her "normal" version at least 20 times (if you are lucky) to obtain all fragments. Challenges? "Zana's questline", "finish Bestiary", "kill Pale Court" (do 4 prophecy lines - boring like hell), "Relase essence of Dementia". Torture, torture, torture. Nevertheless, thousands of players are happily torturing themselves. What about Labyrinth? Half of playerbase hate it and they go through it anyway. Trade? Pure torture. Path of Torture. And what conclusions? "The best ARPG on the current market". So... more knowledgeable people alerady came up with SOMETHING. And that something is current trade and rng-based system. It will stay forever. " "It will stay forever?" Yeah have you played this game? It changes constantly. You are strangely confident about that statement and I don't think that's wise. In any case, you haven't really offered any reason why there can't be moderate, careful changes that don't screw up the game with an auction house but still let me sell my rare gloves to a guy in a different time zone who I've already messaged about it and agreed to. We're all in this leaky boat together, people.

Give some costs to automated trading, it will prevent trash flooding markets.
For example, added a new stash tab for automated trading. But it costs some points. This is a 3-wins method 1. People who enjoy original inconvenient trading can choose not to buy it. 2. People who dislike original trading can buy it to change their life. 3. GGG may have enormous profit incoming for sell this stash. Last edited by smtad#6581 on May 16, 2018, 12:14:14 AM
