Wow thats very exciting,

is there any detail about how these might interact with totems/traps/mines? if at all? I wonder if this is about making self cast great again

Good Idea. Will a now be also possible to use it in PvP? Because I always thought about those vaal Skills as Ultimates like in Overwatch, Titanfall 2 or any crapy DOTA Clone. So would be nice if we can use them more regulary.

Vaal Skill Gems now grant the regular and the Vaal version of the skill. This is to remove the socket pressure that Vaal skills suffered from, so you no longer have to give up an Aura, Herald, Triggered Skill or a well-linked secondary skill, and you can justify using a Vaal gem in your best set of linked sockets.

How does this work? Will the Vaal gem work as a normal gem when you do not have enough souls but trigger the vaal effect when you reach the number of souls?

What a pity... no more Vaal Fireball+Spell Echo bombardment
Even tho the Vaal arc looks kinda unusable to me,
the change to the regular version of arc sounds sick,
getting more damage for remaining chains could actually make
that skill a viable spell again for single target-and clear.
Also, I see the vaal detonate dead may oneshot some bosses...

"Vaal Skills now prevent gaining Vaal souls for a short duration when used. This change was made so that we no longer need to balance Vaal skills around their ability to generate their soul cost back again when killing many enemies. Because of this change, we can increase the power and reduce the soul cost of many Vaal skills."

PLS NO!
You wanna completly prevent these skills to use for farming without other skills? I never looked on them like a boss killer skills. Some of them maybe is, but not all and this is intresting why you wanna ruin this possibility? Instead of this would be better to thinking in 2 options. How make some vaal skill better for area clearing and others for boss fights, instead of how make them better against stronger enemies only...
BIG NO!

"Vaal Arc
We've reduced the skill's chain count to match regular Arc, but it now splits every time it chains, meaning that even with four extra chains, it can now hit more targets, much more rapidly. It also always applies a long-duration, high-effect Shock. This makes the skill more useful for Arc builds against tougher bosses. It now deals much more damage with a higher minimum damage, so it is much more reliable for clearing out a pack of enemies. Both it and regular Arc now deal more damage for each remaining chain, making the first few hits more powerful, great for targeting tough foes.

The skill has lost out on the rare situation where it can bounce between three tough enemies repeatedly, but the new bonuses and damage increases make it much more consistent and worth the time spent casting in any situation."

IDK how it could be good. Vaal arc would be better if you leave it to chaining for longer range and we would get a good map clearing skill. Instead you create a single target from this... Like i said previously it is a bad concept! Instead of this add another kind of gem which would work like you wanna the new vaal arc or treshold jewel which change how its work.

----------------------------------------

"The Ancestral Call Support can no longer support Vaal skills. The same is still true of Multistrike Support and Spell Echo Support. This is something we'll reassess in future, but at the moment duplicating Vaal skill effects causes too many technical, performance and balance problems."

WTF? No pls again. This wont be a big change if you compensate with damage but i liked how the skills worked with these support gems.

----------------------------------------

"Vaal Souls are now stored per skill, rather than per gem. This is to prevent you having multiple copies of the same Vaal skill gem and switching the gems out mid-fight."

OMG... You never thinking before doing something? Instead of this the gems would lose vaal souls if you remove them from yourself (with or without the armor) would be a better solution. Then wont be impossible to use more from the same skills but they have to be in your slots all time. I never changed gems while fighted and i dont know why you wanna nerf the option to use more same gems in the slots.

*****************************************

Overall, some changes would be good if you wont ruin completly the half of the vaal skill system because of some overpowered skills. So i cant be happy with these changes. I understand the concept, but its AGAIN a change which ruin the build diversity while you would able to do this better way like i mentioned above in some point. Im very disappointed...

This is one of the bigger convenience features paired with less soul costs (but a small delay).

Doing a basic search on poe.trade or google could have prevented you from looking silly.
