Oni-Goroshi in Current League - are You gonna farm it or drop it?
It seems that there is something calming about the Twilight Strand Beach. It must be the sound of the waves gently lapping up on the sand. Even the moans of the zombies are not alarming anymore and are a comfort knowing that I'm on very familiar sand.
Either that or I'm a glutton for punishment and an insane aspi sand runner masochist. Probably the latter. :) But the incessant calling for uber Hillock to come out to play the dance of death is both peaceful and frustratingly tiresome. This is my 2nd Synthesis sand pounding Oni farmer so I know the grind for another Charan Sword will be grueling. Yet somehow I'm not put off by this where the grind from 90 to 100 is killing any interest in continuing any build. Must be the fact that there is never any "WTF just happened!" surprise one-shot deaths and 10% xp loss (the loss of xp is a major grind killing penalty at the top end). Either way here I am again doing Oni farming runs in between playing other endgame builds. Uber Hillock... uber Hillock... please come out and play with me. Nope, only his lesser twin brother with just a shit crap rusty sword. SIGH!... it's looking like another member of the TSB Level 9 Beach Club again. DOUBLE SIGH! But wait... is that!... is that UH?! No it can't be? I'm not to level 9 yet. Sure as shit it is uber Hillock: As a veteran of UH battles (17 OG's and counting) the best and quickest way is a straight up in his face attack. With the Shadow exile just constantly Viper Striking him. Before he pulls the Oni out if you have any mana regen you should be backing off and letting mana regen and not waste your mana flasks which are important for face-tanking the Oni wielding UH. Takes a little longer but having full mana flasks is important for face-tanking. And so the battle with UH begins: After many witch fire-ball face tank UH battles is does seem that the Shadow is getting hit less often. Careful flask management is always important but was less of an issue with the Shadow than the Witch class. Either way face-tanking is best with just the 1 UH leap slam so only a few Awakened need to be dispatched. If I had known this from the beginning (Dec. 2017 was my 1st UH battle) I could have saved my exile from the nightmare of Awakened hordes.
Spoiler
UH is dead again. Rest in peace UH until another Groundhog Day replay. Now for the prize: Yes, a very good % crit roll. SWEET! 1 minute 41 seconds to kill UH. Easier to face-tank UH with the Shadow over a Witch but similar time to kill him (neither is faster IMO). I did a little moving before UH pulled out the sword which probably added 5 to 8 seconds to my time. Either class works well for face tanking UH. That's all for Synthesis league. But I'll be back with another UH battle post come patch 3.7.0. To all other TSB farmers never throw in the towel and quit. Having a 6L to run the low acts with is much, much easier. I have Tectonic Slam and Molten Strike builds that work well with "Her Embrace" so it's a very easy way to farm a nice fire damage weapon. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..." Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. Any plans to revive this wonderful tradition for Legion?

I will farm for an OG for sure.
had a lot of fun in Betrayal with an OG-Viper strike trickster, supported by HoA, as my second Char. #makeViperStrikeGreatAgain but I'm not so skilled as Arrowneous when it comes to storytelling... Just do it! And keep it simple -
Things will become complicated by itself. |

I'm considering it... have a busy first week of the league and mindless farming for the sword might just fit well with that. Giving final exams. Time I should be grading exams can be spent farming. Suggestions on a good slayer build?

I was waiting for someone to revive this thread lol. Will farm 2 of them. I planned a "standard" build to test the plethora of melee skills and see what's good or not.
As a starter I'll play a 2x6L Reave/BF or Reave/Vaal DS Zerker unless there's a big surprise with the new skills. But I'm a bit afraid of the Oni + the Zerker degen, my PoB tells me I have a 850 life degen to manage with flasks during big fights. I don't really know if Zerker rage and Oni degen is a good idea but gotta test it out. | |

farm it or drop it?
i will drop it i guess. | |
i'll be farming it.
i've farmed several every league, since the sword got released early-mid abyss league. i must be up around high-40s in the amount of oni-g's i've farmed. i love using that weapon. i want to farm at least 2 for legion: one for a cycloner and one for a tectonic slammer. fun times ahead, ladies & gentlemen... ooh! 'member when PoE was good and fun? i 'member!

I'm thinking I'll spend day 1 and 2 farming it with since it will mean I won't have to run through the Acts right away and when I do, it will be faster.

" I've been thinking that starting off with the OG grind would be a good way to get used to animation canceling in a more forgiving environment. What really worries me is that they made big changes to all the early game bosses and several base mechanics so the uber Hillock fight might have some bugs as it would not be top of the testing priority list. If I ground all the way to Uber Hillock and couldn't beat him because of bugs that would make me grumpy. That being said I still plan to farm up several OGs for my own use and setting myself up economically by selling the rest. |
