Oni-Goroshi in Current League - are You gonna farm it or drop it?

Spoiler

Drop rate suck a lot. I hate myself for making such a league goal even if i succeed.
Worst experience ever. 2/10 (extra point for Uber Hillock fight).

Yeah, well... power creep is a problem few games have solved.

If you don't touch anything, then the game feels static. But if you add new stuff ... then little by little, the older stuff gets outclassed.

As far as your sword goes, yes, I think they over-nerfed the drop rate. But (AFAIK) the Asian market has a lot higher tolerance for that sort of grind, so who knows.

Up to 245 kills so far (34 to level 7, 211 after). Still no sword. At this point it's sort like waiting for the bus. I've waited this long already, if I start walking, I'll end up half way between stops when it finally comes.

I get that they don't want it to be TOO common, but at the same time ... I prefer to play SSF, being able to obtain a 6L at all is usually more than I can hope for in an average league.

I dunno, it's a tedious slog now, which isn't making me like the game any better. Which I suppose is just as well, given the whole Tencent thing.

So .. put me down as "mixed feelings: Bored, and feeling like I'm missing the entire league because I still haven't left the Strand yet". Not very inspiring game play.

Oh my fucking god.

I didn't even think about the Chinese dub/translation.

Which is incredibly ironic because I'm fairly sure she speaks a mixture of Mandarin and Japanese in the book given the setting I created, despite obviously writing it in mostly English...

I wonder if we can find anywere thatd language version just to hear it.
Up to 322 kills now (since hitting level 7).

Still no sword.

<sigh>

Shes a bitch and no doubt. This is why I sort of wish she could drop at any level. She isnt really the sort to reward overt tenacity. Prefers just randomly fucking with people. Oh well.

Yeah meeting Uber Hillock while on level 2-3 could be a hard lesson. That would be nice as hell.
And ... that makes 400 kills (since first hitting level seven).

No sword.

Admittedly, I'm working with a very small sample size, but that's literally rarer by a factor of 10. (Two swords in 3.1, one at 36 kills, one at 40. One sword in 3.2, at 36 kills (apparently that was pure luck)).

Really, who thinks that's fun? Who is it who thinks that's necessary in this age of ludicrous power creep?

Not me.

I think if you missed the chance to farm the sword when it was popular to do so, you missed the chance to do so when it actually could be justified. Trade for the cards or something.

Think of the Uber Hillock method like a one-hit wonder song. It doesn't cease to exist once it falls off the charts, which it will because something newer and better comes along. People might remember liking it but rarely revisit it because there's a reason it fell off the charts. It had 'its moment'. That moment will never be again.

Hey Macarena.

Pretty dman summarisation.

Well... I have 5... so ive spent my time.
And ... 500 kills now. Still no sword. That's over 13 times rarer.

SSF, if I want to use it, I farm it. I doubt I'll bother in future leagues. But I'm stubborn enough (or foolish enough) to keep going.

When I was back in my 30's, I still used to listen to the radio. One day, my favorite station of the time, decided to update their format for the incoming college freshmen. The day before, they'd been playing their traditional format, which I'd liked. And next day, they'd switched to music that just didn't to it for me. I struggled along for a bit (they still had some programs where they played the older format). But it became obvious to me that the artists I'd listened to just a few weeks and months ago were still producing new music, and the station just wasn't picking it up anymore. They'd decided to leave me behind, for greener pastures (U.S. Money is green for those not familiar with U.S. currency).

I had a period where I just didn't have too much music in my life (unless I was at home, where my collection was). Nothing new anyway.

And ... then Steve Jobs released the iPod.

Suddenly, I could carry my music collection in the palm of my hand. I could set up play lists and shuffle them, in effect making my own radio stations. And ... I could pipe it into the aux port on my car stereo. Now, most of you grew up with iPods or other MP3 players, so it'll just seem weird that I'm making a big deal about it, but I'm from one of the generations from before the iPod changed the world.

Anyway, one day, about 10 years later, that radio station sent me a mailing, highlighting their return to their older format and encouraging me to listen again. It had finally dawned on them that I was still spending money on music, and the kids they'd tried to court weren't, and they'd tossed me away.

But by that point, it was too late. I had what I needed (with regard to music) without their help.

So ... I'm thinkin' maybe I'll give Dark Souls III a try. Borderlands 3 should be out next year too. There's a bunch of stuff out there worth trying that I've been putting off.

Level 7 was when we got the pre-nerf uber Hillock. Now you must grind well into level 8 and possibly level 9. The over level xp nerf really takes a toll in grinding xp. Of the 3 swords I got after the nerf, 1 was level 8 8x% and 2 were level 9 at 2% and 4% so if you are only into level 7 you got a long, long grind ways to go. Post again with your screen shot of reaching level 9 and we can celebrate/commiserate in the Strand 9 Beach Club (private club for players who have a level 9 beach comber/grinder). After that I need all club members to help me clean up the beach. All these completely dead zombies are polluting the beach (I'll supply the gas masks... if you've ever smelled rotting flesh you'll understand).

Gloom, despair, and agony on me... level 9 on The Strand Beach:

At 2% it finally happens (it's about damn time!):
Spoiler

Uber Hillock is dead... long live Uber Hillock:

Edit: Since this was one of a 3 sword grind rotation multiple the time by 3 so about 20 hours to get 1 sword is brutal and makes a zombie out of all who grind one (damn it, I will not let the Wookie win... curse you GGG!).  :)

"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.
