Announcing Path of Exile: Bestiary League
As usual, there are all kinds of opinions concerning the upcoming content.
People saying they stop playing/supporting - check People extremely hyped - check and everything between I read through the whole thread and I kinda like it how mixed feelings these updates give to different people. There is no content that gets all the love/hate. It's great and shows that there's variety in what you can spend your time on. This upcoming league, as far as I can tell from the trailer, reminds me of Invasion league. You encounter these new types of monsters that you can either ignore, kill or now capture. I see several comments talking about how it's mandatory and time consuming to capture a lot of monsters and how it's a waste of time, but remember that you can also consider the league as a fresh start where you play as you always do, but which has new items you can trade from others. You decide, and that's how it should be.
Looks like fun, but I'm already dialing down my expectations of engaging with this league. Here's what happens next based on what has happened in Breach and Legacy and Abyss etc etc.
1) We get the challenges a few days out from the release. 2) People tell themselves GGG could not possibly stuff this up again and get excited for the challenges. 3) End of week one: some progress made 4) Week 2: a bit more 5) Month 1: ok, a bit of grinding is needed, fair enough 6) Month 2: nah, they didn't stuff this up again, that's what they did last time, and the time before that, and the time before that, and the time before that, and the time before that.... 7) Month 2.4: Pity the fools going for 40, 36 requires a guild (or quitting your job if solo) because Global 820 has been a cesspool for 2.2 months at this stage. 8) Month 2.6: Developer Manifesto on Bestiary being merged with standard and [insert name of this league's stuff up here]'s spawn rate being drastically increased. No one cares. |

" If you don't like constantly spending money for the apparent privilege of consuming shameless borderline plagiarism, you're no longer the target demographic. Take a look at these "HYPE!" "Shutup and take my money!" posts. They are the future here. Not us. You in effect answer your own question. Negativity isn't relevant. Pro coders only ever care about the bottomline. (Not much choice in any economy where the options are profit or die homeless, which to be fair seems to be anywhere with electricity.) Sadly, the idea that shitting on your customers reduces profits is a myth. What it actually does is filter customers by shit-tolerance. So long as the shit has even trace market value, you can always do this and get paid for less or lower quality work, especially if you have mechanisms that insulate you from consumer choice. (Such as social pressure, a monopoly, or addiction.) The whole plan is to replace unprofitable players with profitable ones. It's a brutal yet simple algorithm once you throw amusement under the bus for profitability which happened promptly once the community backbone reached critical mass. As was said, (possibly by you?) the goal here is to squeeze what enjoyment you can out of what you're given, cease spending, and otherwise ignore as best you can everything repugnant to you in this context because there's no point trying to fight it. And with that, I'm following my own advice and closing the tab on this thread. Sidenote: If anyone agrees with this, I always like finding like minds for my friend list. It's a cult, casino, and monopoly. Nothing else. Too much censorship that you never even see. Totally removed posts and silenced accounts across all communities. https://www.youtube.com/@Innomen

I really hope this league is the first step toward a Path of Mario Maker. I am quite sure ppl who love decorating Hideout love this league.
Breach, Abyss etc were essentially same and I start feeling too much of them, and Poe has very little RPG aspects in game so I welcome this new league. I hope GGG do not bend themselves against vocal minorities. Also I wonder GGG should have enough workforce to create contents for both those top 1% of players shouting here and for the rest of the player base. Not really hyped by the league (pets and crafting, meh), it could be OK, anyway I'll play it because I like new start !
My only concern is : how do you capture the monsters ? I saw on IGN videos a "net" skill you have to throw to target. I assume the target has to be alive. But does it has to be on low life (pokemon-style) or not ? It could be a HUGE downside of this league. Vorici quests are already very annoying for lots of builds. I don't want a whole league mechanic unachievable to some builds that use one-shot mechanics, or even worse for summoners and totems where you don't really control your damage output. Even "classic" direct damage dealing builds will be penalized by such a mechanic : it's a hack'n'slash game ! Come on, no one want to be penalize because he overkills monsters ! With the insane difference between life of regular monsters and bosses, you have to overkill everything in the map to deal with bosses. Lots of builds also clean monsters outside screen before even seeing them : how do you capture a monster in this case ?... Well, I guess we won't have clear answers on this point before release, so we'll have to figure this out by ourselves. I hope the capture mechanic will not be f*cked up.
As for the new league - more farms, more farms, more shitty items, 90% of which will go to hiding and league items as in the current league, hardly anyone will see - an example of armor or items with two sockets ... Uber Elder omg - no comment...
Maybe this time I will be able to do 6L after one day and not after 4 weeks packing in one item of 400 fusing daily ... maybe as I buy a pack I can do 5-6 x 6l in one day like many others after such a purchase; p ( xaxaxa... ) We'll see how it will come out in the wash. And in practice after a few days / weeks. At the moment this does not make me feel optimistic, but I am waiting for the start to check what and how. If it turns out to be a total shit - it will be a standard. Because in Abbyss I spent almost 1000 hours. And to tell the truth - maybe they are not wasted hours ... but all the time I remain convinced that something is missing or something is wrong with certain objects and issues. I will not talk about it now. I will no longer have technical problems and focus on the "new water effect" instead of on much more important and needed matters. + So let's get ready to catch pokemon. Let's enjoy new support packs. And let's wait for the start of the new league.
i would like to see the new Gems and Skills in the Video if theres some new, so people can think about where they want to go with theire Builds and new Gems.

I do not "catch, display and sacrifice".
The light at the end of the tunnel is nothing but a muzzleflash.

" I am probably that inbetween. To be honest there has been that much content over the years I haven't the time to get into it all and then they add more.I have come to realise unlike my normal approach to ARPGs where I like to try everything I have to cherry pick with POE. I do look forward to more fated uniques,I think that stands out most for me. Last edited by Kavlor on Feb 16, 2018, 4:36:04 AM

I have not read much of this thread other than first and last page and it seems this announcement generated a lot of mixed feelings.
I want to be excited about this new league because I had late start in Abyss because I was playing other games. Information about upcoming Bestiary league does not give me too much hope for a league I will enjoy. I prefer to play the game at my own pace--Bestiary league will definitely bring new turns and twists that will be mandatory in order to benefit from the challenge league. I also prefer to focus on playing the game rather than doing stuff outside of playing, eg. trading, etc, but it is clear there will be a whole new set of micro-management required to fully enjoy new league. I want a challenge league with interesting additional content that is not too intrusive and burdening on players. I want league mechanics to be natural to PoE gameplay flow rather. Lastly, I prefer if new challenge leagues do not need new UI elements as the game is already overflowing with these. Bestiary league seem to infringe on all of my preferences based on the provided info. I will definitely play the league to test it out but I do not have high hopes. Fated Uniques are always nice but considering I mostly play self-imposed SSF nor I utilize 820 to grind masters or challenges, I do not see myself to get many of those. Uber Elder is not relevant for me as I do not push high-end content due to my playstyle. Changes to Ascendancies are open case until more information is known. I'm worried that selected few ascendancies that benefit low geared character will be changed or nerfed to a point where I would have to find new favourite characters to play. |
