Regarding Lab re-entry and Chris' recent statements about DCs
From Zizaran's interview with Chris, on the topic of the current 6 second DC timer:
" Given that you're aware that people worldwide are getting random disconnections due to no fault of their own, what's your justification for designing the lab in such a way that a DC will completely wipe your progress and eat your entry fee? Aren't you deliberately making the lab unappealing to these people? Last edited by suszterpatt#5078 on Jan 14, 2018, 5:13:26 PM Last bumped on Jan 22, 2018, 5:23:38 PM

Problem is that they were trying to justify these timer's from a HC point of view. Like if you don't have insane net alredy then there is no point going HC in the first place. So just balance that for people with insane net and SC for everyone else that has normal pc and net.

" Or they know people DC and thats why the timer is set to 6 seconds before it boots you, where as if they allowed you to change that setting you would be booted out almost all the time, at which point you might have a case for argument. Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

" I would love to hear a response to this very valid point. |

Can't be "fixed" because its abuseable then.

" the moment you start your own company, and Chriss becomes your employee you can start making the demands your casually throwing around. Also, this is neither feedback or a suggestion, it's just a ramble of somebody throwing out dirt hoping something sticks. Go throw your dirt in general discussions, who knows maybe people enjoy to bash chriss or GGG over there in their almighty wisdom that they are clearly genius game designers and GGG a bunch of plebs? I don't think there is a "demand ceo justification" sub-section. Peace, -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

" If we just added re-entry to the current lab design, yes it would be. However, the idea has been presented before to allow re-entry, but when you do, you are put just after the last completed Izaro phase (or at the start if you haven't beaten phase 1 yet), and if you left during an Izaro fight, that fight resets. In that case, you now have to travel through 2-3 zones full of traps, likely with less trash mobs on the way to get flask charges from, and attempt the fight again from the top. Combined with other possible limitations and/or punishments on re-entry, this would make instalogging out of the lab a non-issue. Bottom line, the lab could have been designed in such a way as to allow re-entry in case of a disconnect without room for abuse. Despite this, GGG have chosen a design that they must have known would unfairly punish a large number of people. I'm curious to know why. |

" The game is abusable in general, therefore does that mean nothing should be fixed/no one should play because of that? |

" "insane net" honestly sounds like the problem rather than the solution, but whatever. I'd have to say, the definition of "insane net" here feels a bit off. I mean, you have multi-second periods where your traffic isn't working? That is broken. Complaining the game isn't designed to cope with that is like complaining that you have to change the oil in a car, because you blew up the engine in one by refusing to do it. "C'mon, putting oil in a car? Clearly they are only designed for people with an insane dedication to maintaining cars!" If you can't get packets reliably back and forth to a game server without problems, with an otherwise idle network, then your problem isn't that GGG designed for some secret "super" Internet, it is that they designed for super-boring regular Internet, and you don't have even that. Like, normal Internet has no packet loss, and very low variance in latency. That is ... just normal. That is what normal is. Your description of "normal" net is describing something that is super-broken. You are ... IDK, maybe in your experience this is normal. Maybe you and the people you know just accept that this terrible, horrible, no good, very bad service is just how the Internet is, because you have never had "normal" service. " You definitely shouldn't. You will never, ever be happy with how GGG have designed and built the game. It will just make you mad to keep playing it, no matter how much fun other parts of the game are. Last edited by SlippyCheeze#7036 on Jan 16, 2018, 2:26:56 PM

" Call it what you want, but that's what a lot of people around the world have. Not because they don't want to pay for any better, but because that's the level of infrastructure where they live. Seems kind of unfair to punish them for it quite so harshly, wouldn't you say? |
