Then why mention the midterms? Makes no sense.

It's not my job to make sense to you, rather it's your job to intuite my meaning.

Perhaps, I brought up the mid-terms because you implied Trump did no harm to GOP. Why did they lose so much if they're so popular, after all? Trump promised a Red Wave in November...guess Donald is as good as his word.

Or

Maybe I just brought it up for a bit of word play with the whole wave->tsunami due to climate change thing.

It's always so much better if you have to explain it...

Incidentally, Trump supporters are turning.

Not even Trump supporters believe the president on Russia anymore

Poll: Majority say sitting presidents should be subject to indictment

But hey, at least the stock market is doing great!

Oh wait...

You have this habit of putting words into especially my mouth.

I believe the Republican Party was already corrupt to the core, and the only people who could salvage it, all decided on early retirement since 2016, or unfortunately, passed away.

Midterm elections are at the very least a decent indicator of a party's current popularity and the success of their campaign strategy.

See how hard that was? Not once did I put words in your mouth and assumed you said something you didn't, and argued that strawman.

That's TRUMP-level genius, man.

Yes, we can all only dream of a situation where Ted Cruz learns how to replicate himself, wins all Republican primaries and then takes control of the entire Republican party.

Oh well, back to reality.

You are correct. Trump is an absolute master at capturing and controlling the news cycle.
Look guys, you can pick one: either
1. Trump keeps surviving and controlling the news cycle because he has a high degree of some form of intelligence, and is therefore a genius, or
2. Trump keeps surviving and controlling the news cycle because he possesses magical powers derived from the secret truth that he's actually humanity's most powerful psyker.

I prefer to go with the more mundane, less magical explanation. But hey, if you want to go the God Emperor Trump route, I won't stop you.

Okay Trump is a genius at capturing and controlling the news cycle, if you prefer. I assume that he manages that because he has many years in reality TV, he's been working the media since his 30's, he's an intelligent enough fellow, and his personality is compatible with all that.

This doesn't mean that he really has a magic gut that is never wrong. A great weakness of his is that he's not as smart or infallible as he seems to think that he is. This causes people that work with him to call him an idiot, like Tillerson did, since he won't listen to advice, not even from experts that know far more about a certain topic than he does.

A person can be both smart and an idiot. If the generals that know all about ISIS and Syria went to Trump and tried to tell him how to control/capture the news cycle then they would be idiots. Just like Trump is being an idiot again by announcing a pull out of Syria contrary to all the advice he's getting from his generals.

Judging by the fact that he has a strong opinion concerning the Spiegel, I assume it is moste likely that he is at least a native german speaker.

And his opinion towards the Spiegel bugs me. :-)

No, really, it is very prestigious and well known for its good investigative journalism. It has fought many battles for the freedom of press in Germany. Sensationalism? *sigh*

Then stay consistent with your logic and say that Obama harmed the Democrats.

There's no evidence for that. His numbers are stable as always.

There's a now a name for that species. A Trump. A Donald. A Donald Trump.

Fed rates don't influence the whole economy in such a way as to determine whether the whole economy is booming or going into a recession. If that were true, they would have the power of the God Emperor Frog. They merely dampen the effect of inflationary pressure during a boom/heating economy, and vice versa during a slowdown/recession.

What's interesting is that the Fed's rising rates started in 2015, and that even at recent levels, doesn't seem so high compared to not too long ago.

But it's nice to blame it all on something other than Trump's trade war and tariffs and uncertainty...

Trump digs tariffs! Vote to impoverish yourself!

You haven't presented any evidence. Polls with leading and very specific questions are not evidence. Look at approval ratings for any sort of evidence.

I think we had already established Trump is intelligent for sure. How intelligent he is (I doubt anyone would call him a genius at anything considering the criminal's noose is tightening all around him and he couldn't even find a chief of staff for himself) is a matter of total speculation.

If he is pretending to sound like an idiot, he is doing a good job, all the time. He rarely if ever breaks cover, and sounds smart. If done solely to appease the rednecks, as you so put it, he risks losing everyone else, as has happened.

Trump might be intelligent, but apparently not smart enough to cover his corruption tracks very well.

He was very clever in copying nazi tactics (who themselves didn't invent the wheel in this regard) to FAKE NEWS media, effectively silencing critics, but this had the unfortunate effect of relying on the TRUE NEWS media like FOX, which is now starting to turn against him.

This situation really is unprecedentent. It's not a pornstar affair whilst his wive is pregnant, which incidentally didn't phase even a little bit evangelical christians, this is a matter of breaking the law and selling out your country.

I know the latter doesn't mean much anymore to so-called patriots, but it really should. Russia is not your friend, though it may pretend to be. Saudi Arabia actually is, but is like that one guy you know who is a laugh at parties but when everyone sobers up, they realise he is actually a loonie psychopathic murderer.
As I've said before, anyone who can maneuver themselves into the office of President of the United States is invariably a genius. They might not be moral, but morality is a separate consideration from intelligence certainly, and from mental health debatably. I believe this is the truth behind the heart of House of Cards (both UK and US); even the most cynical yet somewhat realistic view of power dynamics in the highest rungs of politics involves people who are highly intelligent, pragmatic at best and deeply immoral at worst, and of dubious sanity.

I personally think it's a mistake to view such power players as crazy or stupid, even if one views them as evil. I definitely would call Obama and Bill Clinton geniuses, even though the latter got caught lying about a blowjob. And I think mental illness should NOT cover merely antisocial behavior, such that it encompasses everything society doesn't find ideal, but only cover anti-self behaviors wherein the person undermines themselves. Thus I consider Trump to definitely be a sane, stable genius.

A good man? Sometimes, yes; sometimes no. But overall? Perhaps not good at all.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

Ok let's look at approval ratings.

Lowest approval rating for the first 700 days since 4-5 presidents now, higher disapproval ratings for Trump for the first 700 days since 4-5 presidents now.

Your point? Use words please.

Are you saying a high debt level means increasing fed rates? Ok. So then that might be yet ANOTHER reason why Fed increased rates...

Your claim was that "Trump supporters are turning". Show me on that graph where they supposedly "turned". Hint: you can't.

I have 100 dollars of debt. I pay 6% interest. I pay 106 dollars back, of which 6 dollars are interest.

I have 300 dollars of debt. I pay 2% interest. I pay 306 dollars back, of which 6 dollars are interest.
