Trump 'democracy' at play here: " " |

Now, according to the libs, Trump really is the anti Christ for not reciting the Apostle's Creed. How silly can they get?

" You never cease to amaze me. " 1. Debating whether Brenda Snipes is corrupt or just incompetent is not racist, hysterical, or without merit. 2. Spending decades browbeating people with fake moral outrage and then calling it suspicious when they decline to comment. I don’t know what’s going on in NC, but I prefer it be resolved without the circus making a mockery out of U.S. institutions. I’ll wait for a court ruling, thank you. Devolving Wilds

I think you guys are ascribing too much intelligence to Bush. I think little George inherited his brains from his dad, not his mom.
I'll tell the truth; Bush was a bad president. The liberals that have been singing his praises all week used to bitch and moan about him ceaselessly. Much of it justified, imo. Death brings out the hypocrisy in certain people like nothing else. Censored.

Nicely put, Charan.
What we are seeing here is yet again the rise and fall of populism. It's easy to appeal to people's hope's and dreams, and more so to their fears. The problem that is common here in Europe or across the pond, is that once they get into power, it's like they are surprised to even be there. Like a virgin, on the first night. They have little clue what to do next. For example, in Finland we have this right-wing party (almost far-right) in a coalition government with two other centrist parties. They are called the True Finns party, and they got elected with the usual xenophobic populist rhetoric. In Finnish, it's PerusSuomalaiset, and you can translate it to also mean the Basic Finns, which is what I call them. They have not kept a single campaign promise, about immigration or anything else for that matter. Actually, the party had massive internal problems and a huge fraction split away, leaving some fragmented remains in place. They are the least popular party in polls for some time now. I'm seeing a similar pattern across the world. Initial hope and infatuation, followed by a terrible honeymoon, followed by reality and a crippling divorce and then finally an epiphany about future such relations. I just hope it happens sooner rather than later, and the damage (US domestic, but also global) is not horrifically bad. |
