That new retarded corpse explosion

I also encountered it today. Have a lot of movement speed so was just out of range when it exploded. Gorge map so no funny monster type either. Definitely no CE totem. I ran across some monsters I had killed a few seconds earlier and suddenly one of them exploded behind me. No visual warning.

Some new bug GGG will take a few leagues to fix.

My suspicion: Some stuff is invisible under specific circumstances, probably due to some weird gfx clipping bug. Maybe if too many objects like walls, rubble, trash items or dead monsters are on the screen. I usually see it with necromancers: I clear a room and prepare to walk into the next one when suddenly a necro appears out of nowhere. Then I know who kept summoning skellies...

Might be a new aspect of that bug.

Both explanations offered in the two previous posts seem plausible to me.

My money is however on a visual bug of some kind to some existing effect, or just a plain old bug where they are able to explode somehow. That was my own intuition as well.

I saw something like this as well just now. I can't see what's hitting me but it was always with the packs of flame guardians and necromancers, no other packs. I think flame guardians might have a bug.
So far i'm starting to see a lot of cases of necromancers being around when this happens from my own and other reports. But i think i've also seen it happen with no necros around.

I don't know the exact mob-type, but I am sure it is an undead/abomination. Killed me twice this weak. Got really paranoid about it and went down to lower maps for validation. Even in a simple blue Tier 3 Sewer map with only +magic monsters/elem.Equ. you get oneshotted out of nowhere. That means with some damage mods, this "thing" can kill even the strongest builds.

The worst thing is there is no indication of such massive damage incoming. I would accept some -bearers knocking one over. Then you were just too slow. Even the new Volatile would be a candidate.

A visual bug is the most logical conclusion. Yet I also thought it is not a single mob, but rather the whole effect is buggy and not working as intended.
Detonate dead is the worst skill in the game. I don't know who thought this was a good idea. Please Detonate yourself so your stupidity doesn't waste anyone else's time.

Anyone know what that detonate bullshit is with the stygian revenant? I see nothing in the wiki, but it happens when they are in the map. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for it, very random.

Seriously remove dd from the game, its a retarded skill that 99.9 percent of the time is inconsequential and the other it just one shots you with a boss corpse...Seriously awful game design, fix that retarded skill.

if a revenant resurrects the various black skeletal monsters that spawn with them, when you kill them again they leave a red vibrating circle on the ground which explodes after a short period of time. Its one of the more acceptable forms of monster DD because it gives a warning, its telegraphed, theres an opportunity to predict it, recognise it and avoid it once u know what it is and how it works.

The other forms of DD like the one where you kill a boss in melee range that then instantly spawns a beyond pack who then instantly detonate the corpse of the boss with essentially no warning or opportunity to react dealing in excess of 15k hp of damage post mitigation... yeah, thats a complete shitter and you got to wonder about the idea of putting those things in the game. Have they patched that yet or do we have another few years of that bullshit existing before a senior dev actually plays the game long enough for it to happen to them and realise that shouldnt be a thing? Surely that has to have been sorted out by now?
