Chaos Recipe Shenanigans
Even tho I only do the recipe for a week every league, I'm yet to see an actualy good rolled ring/amulet, because chances are high, you are not going to ID anything, that's worth selling/using is really small.
So eiher do the unid recipe or don't do it at all. Last edited by krenderke#3861 on Aug 24, 2017, 10:18:51 AM

" agreed. And don't even try to do it. Just chuck random unid shit in a tab then vender when you know you have enough. |

interesting as usual to read how people play this game and good tips as well.
i only do the chaos recipe in the beginning of a league until i loot something valuable. in legacy i got an xoph amulet in merciless twilight strand before hillock that sold for 5 exalt. in turmoil i found a taste of hate early and once again in harbinger league. that one i sold for 200 chaos. i feel the regal recipe is more useful later on. those orbs are quite rare and if i don't do the recipe i am always out of regals when i need them to craft something. |

It also depends on clearspeed and playstyle.
For example I mainly play stuff that clears maps in 3-4 min and then I have time to pick loot up/flip stones whatever. But when I just want to farm raw currency I roll something to clear maps in 1-2 mins, problems with this is, my hands hurt like shit after an hour of hard grinding, but this is definitely a better option in the long run, as long as your hands can hold up. " please for the love of god, don't do this... The chaos recipe requires that your yellow item set is /unidentified/ alching a white amulet will nullify your recipe.. |

I used to do un-ID chaos recipes, and I honestly made more currency doing that than doing anything else. This was before poe.xyz, back when it was actually hard to sell stuff. But now days I'm against doing the un-ID recipe. The value of rings and amulets is really hard to gauge, and I've had luck putting random prices on rings and amulets with just 2-3 good mods, and have gotten exalted orbs for some of them. I remember an amulet or a ring I sold with physical damage + ES and 1 resist sold for 1 ex. Someone running a physical based ES build needed it, and that 1 resist was the one they needed to get capped. It also had open slots to roll extra mods on.

" thing is a bad base isnt always a bad item right? Im doing unid recipe this league, which is completely against my better judgement as to what good practice is, I would never advise unid recipe but I just want a consistent supply of chaos because Im stacking mirror shards and dont want a swingy income supply, sick of running only red maps and want to stick in white/yellow for the league so my rares are more likely to be shabby anyway. I did however accidentally id a gold amulet that was destined for my chaos recipe tab and now Im not only using it, I also get forest whitaker eye when vendoring unid amulets. But Im going on the completely unfounded delusion that this amulet used up all my jewelry rng for the league and Im safe just vendoring everything else, its helping me sleep at night. You think ur safe vendoring gold and coral amulets, but youre never safe rng doesnt care what ur base is. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

" No it doesn't! If you want 2 chaos per recipe yes they need to be un-id. But not for 1 chaos orb. That is why it is so good to gamble on alching rings and amulets. You will make profit from good rings and ammys sometimes, and that is worth a lot. Then, the rings and ammys that don't go well you can regain the cost of alching by getting a chaos out of them in the recipe. IGN: HotnessEverspleen

I use the inid chaos recipe mostly because trying to figure out what is even worth selling/keeping to use takes me 3-10 times more research and testing to figure out. So I waste hours trying to figure out what this one piece of jewelry is worth.
If I would have found those two ammy's that were posted I would have only gotten a couple of shards for them from a vendor. I would never have thought they had any value. How do you even know what is good and not good? I have never had a store as it would be pointless for me. I have only ever sold items I previously bought and that has always been at a steep loss later. Nothing ever goes up in value it declines rapidly. And also I have found only 2 unid ammy, 7 Belts and 9 rings so far this league! It is awful what GGG did with rng. It is not coincidental. |
