[3.1] Firestorm Leech Tank
Did some tests with BoP and was surprised what Lust for Carnage does to our leech.
In total you gain 40% more leech on hit, which is alot. Would be interesting to test this, but atm i not want to drop life nodes to get me the needed points. Another way to improve leech would be the use of Flammability in a CwDT setup together with a Self-Flagellation jewel (tri-curse). Its quite a damage increase too. Do we even need to be more tanky? What do you think? |
" More leech on hit is barely relevant because the maximum amount of life that you can leech is limited to 20% of your total life pool per second. So with more leech on hit you'll reach this limit faster but you will not leech more life in the end. That's what Soul of Arakaali is for - it effectively raises the leech cap to 30%. the self flagellation jewel makes *you* to be able to be cursed with more than one curse, not your enemies. |
" The Self-flagellation jewel looked too good to be true, you are right i got it wrong. Instead Windscream boots could do the job, but they lack mobility and life. :( Yea, using Lust for Carnage just means we would need fewer hits to reach our 20% cap. With all the hits we get from Firestorm it is probably less useful. I slowly see why Blood Rage isnt that bad, it reminds me of the new Vaal Pact. Bad for life regen but good for your leech cap. Unfortunatly i went for Bloodlust instead of Combat Stamina, my goal is to have more than 7k life without the Belly. But with Vitality my life regen should be high enough now to test Blood Rage again. |
I did some Blood Rage testing and found a very nice spot for that.
Without Blood Rage i can easily facetank the Boss in T12 Torture Chamber, even with alot of mods and during his complete beam attack, life isnt dropping. With Blood Rage not so much, i have to compensate with flasks and life is still dropping, even with easier map mods. You would think the higher leech and leech cap would more than compensate the lower regen. As it looks, it doesent. All the extra leech cant make up for the missing regen. This means it takes longer to get your life bar back to max which is most important to me. Only with a full life bar you can survive the biggest hits. Even normal fights dont feel smooth sometimes when the life bar is jumping around thx to Blood Rage. To me the whole point of Blood Rage are the Frenzy charges which provide a bit more mobility and damage. When it comes to tanking, Blood Rage is a change for the worse. Once you lose your endurance charges (Boss fights with no or hardly any adds) and your gear doesent have much armor, Blood Rage starts to hit pretty hard since it does physical damage. better late than never - shaper run video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMznZhybdUk
nothing particularly spectacular, just goes to show that the Shaper can be killed relatively safely and reliably. single target damage is pretty average but can be greatly boosted by unspeccing increased AoE nodes and getting the increased firestorm duration lab enchant. |
" Thank you for the great vid, but are you serious? You facetanked his hardest hit and there is nothing particular spectacular in your vid? For a build that can tank like this the damage is pretty high too. Ofc there are vids with faster kills but often these builds die by packs of trash mobs between the shaper phases, they are squishy like hell. Show me another build that does pretty good single target damage, pretty good area damage and is insanily tanky? There were a few but they died after 2.6. To increase single target damage i wouldnt respec, just use Concentrated Effect instead of Chance to Ignite. More damage on a smaller Area, perfect for single target. The Firestorm Duration enchant would replace the +6/9 Block enchant, which is needed to have max block. I would rather try to optimize the tree and take Exceptional Performance for a 45% duration increase. Have you tried to do Shaper without Blood Rage? It would make it easier to facetank his beam. Today i've done T12 Torture Chamber with 2 unique bosses and 94% extra damage mod. I could facetank both during the complete beam phase (without Blood Rage and flasks). I have no idea but i dont think the Shaper beam hits much harder than that. |
" i might give it a go if i get another set of fragments, but i doubt that extra 300 hp/second would make much difference. the beam is very easy to dodge though, so i wouldn't hyperfocus on it anyway. |
" Pls try it, do some testing and tell us what you think. :) Btw its more than a loss of 300hp/sec. During my tests i could see that my health bar was dropping once i lost my endurance charges, hit no mobs and the degen was still running. My normal regen is around 570 hp/sec (without enchants etc.), means the degen was higher than that. My armor is quite low, around 1000, but i have 810 ES. Dont forget that the degen is 4% of your life as physical damage, not just 4%. The physical damage is what does hurt so much. |
" 4% as physical damage can exceed 4% max life only if you are cursed with vulnerability. you can easily test in hideout, just remove cwdt and cast blood rage manually. if you have 570 life regen your life will not be dropping. |
" That could have been the case and when i am moving i only have around 440 life regen. But still Blood Rage is like a medicine with too many side effects. I dont like to swallow the bitter pill and i am happy without it. :) |
