" I didn't say it shouldn't be "behind a slightly hard quest" there is a pretty big difference between slightly hard, and the absolute toughest boss in the game. Now I have some ideas, although with 3.0 coming soon and not having enough information about it none of them would be as educated as what GGG could choose. For example what if beating the act 4,8, and 10 boss without dying or using portals rewarded the first 3 ascendancies? Right now defeating Malachai feels rather lack luster to say the least and a lot of people complain that people just cheese him down. Well if you can kill him without dying (sc) or going back to town for flask refills, then why not get a bonus? Again with the changes in 3.0 I don't know if that would work, but there is certainly plenty of "slightly hard" to go around without just picking the toughest fight, certainly for the first three ascendancies. And if there was something like beat a boss, move on to next act, or beat that same boss with some other challenge added in, move on and get a optional reward I think it would add the risk = reward to act bosses. |

OP here. I just read thru most posts and although i thought i would have made myself clear, i obviously didnt.
Here is the main objection to my points: Lab is too hard for you, get better, prepare more. This argument totally ignores my reasoning. I actually conceded that i am bad at the lab. I have been bad at many things in PoE, but i got better over time because i enjoyed the game play. I DO NOT ENJOY lab game play. Lab kind game play is NOT the reason that i started investing in this game. If it would be ignorable with some mild consequences (no enchants) that's totally OK for me and i would never do it. But it is not. Imagine that GGG would create a new system like ascendancy that is character defining. In order to advance in that system you would have to engage in tetris like game play with your character turning the blocks actively as they fall. You do not enjoy tetris like game play, maybe you even hate it. Would you still accept it? I think for some of you the answer is "Yes" because you would deem it as work to be done. Here is the thing: I play casually, my reason for playing is that i enjoy it. If it gets to be a chore, i don't need it anymore. For some of you this is obviously different. |

" There are a LOT of people that do not enjoy the lab, and probably even more that could care less if it went away. What is primarily being proposed that it truly be something secondary to the game and not part of a core mechanic of a character build, which, even the devs have admitted, is the case. That way, you enjoy the lab? Go do the lab. Do it all day long. Just take the ascension out of it so that everyone else is forced to endure this pet mechanic. " Yes, because mouse clicking through traps means you got leet skillz... :eyeroll: |
