[3.0] Berserker BLS Shaper Farmer on a Budget - Millions of BALLS, DPS and INFO Inside! - VP, RT, US

For people who are playing this build in Standard or happen to get a Brutus Lead Sprinkler in Harbinger league, I have a question. Is it still feasible to dual-wield this weapon, now that the properties of the "Adds Fire Damage per 10 Strength" has now been changed to local rather than global?

This does mean that an offhand BLS would not apply to a skill like Molten Strike, only the inherent dual-wield bonuses (i.e. attack speed and physical damage bonuses)?

EDIT: I've updated the BLS into it's current 3.0 form, along with other changes. Other changes include not dual-wielding BLS and changed to the unique shield Lycosidae, and then specced out of Resolute Technique and into Elemental Overload keystone. Have not tested this out on live servers but it gives larger damage numbers compared to 2.6.

Here is a level 91 tree https://pastebin.com/B8xDS0D4

If you dual wield BLS in 3.0, you'll get the usual dual wield bonuses and global increases to fire damage from both weapons. As you guessed, the flat added fire damage is now local.

Molten strike alternates between weapons and works with all melee weapon types, so it doesn't make sense to have a stat stick offhand.

A shield is the logical choice for most people in 3.0.

hey, following this build, lvl60 currently, doing amazing.
Quick question though, as bls is not available to mere mortals such as me, are there any good replacements? what should I aim for? Brightbeak? doesnt even look close as comparable...

Unfortunately, this build is very tuned for BLS since it gives mirror-tier DPS once you stack enough strength. I haven't theorycrafted serious alternatives, but some that come to mind are Dyadus, Hyaon's Fury (probably not good after they removed the massive buff in beta), and a rare. I did a quick check and good rares on harbinger are more expensive than BLS. The cheapest clean BLS right now is 5ex on HSC.

For a brightbeak build, you'd want to stack as much flat added damage as possible to boost the DPS. Options that come to mind are Abyssus, Old One's Ward, steel rings, etc.

When theory crafting rares, note that it's often easier to scale DPS with physical weapons than elemental ones. First, there are are several strong sources of physical damage as extra elemental damage like hatred and taste of hate. Second, it's harder to stack multi-element penetration or if you're using Xoph's then you lose some DPS by converting cold and lightning damage to fire at 50% effectiveness. Third, you can use Iron Grip if your core damage is physical. An ele dps weapon could probably work too, but I suspect it'd be weaker.

Is this build still viable if i manage to get Xoph's and Brutus lead spreankler or damage is quite lower then in 2.6?
Haste and Anger both use 50% of my mana pool so if I have both of them on they consume 100% of my mana pool so I dont have mana for molten strike? Am I doing something wrong here

Enlighten.

If you don't have one yet, use herald of ash instead of anger.

Can you please post aprox tree for lvl 90 and 100 with 1 BLS and Lycosidae for EO setup. Thank you!
Just bought my BLS in hsc a few days ago. If anyone is wondering this build still melts faces just fine (even without xophs).

I imagine the price will come down on Xophs once more casual people hit the zana 8 breach mod and xoph splinters start flooding into the market - A few weeks maybe?

Just wanted to provide an update - only 77 currently so I'm not quite up to shaper yet but it feels really good still

This is from a private email conversation where I did some quick theory crafting. This is for level 100. For level 90, drop either the crit nodes or the 3-point jewel sockets by Lava Lash and Point Blank. If you need just 1 to 3 points, drop one of the 10% nodes from the Catalyse cluster, Path of the Warrior, Beef, and/or one life node from the scion brick.

Note that EO only gives 4-8% more DPS relative to going crit (with low investment), and only gives that bonus when EO is running. It is substantially worse than any other option when EO is down. If you want to kill isolated bosses reliably and quickly, don't use EO. If you only care about map clearspeed, then EO is slightly better than the other options.

...

I redid some theorycrafting and here's what I get. These could almost certainly all be improved. All the numbers I give here are what PoB shows. To get real DPS, you'll need to use the molten strike dps calculator I posted on reddit an the forum in 2.6. Note that in the lyco setups below, I modified my dual wield jewels to be shield jewels to make the comparisons fair.

  • https://pastebin.com/p65PLGef : 609k/ball vs shaper, 7126 life, 22% crit chance, 235 multi, 11.03 aps
  • https://pastebin.com/SXkvc0ai : 661k/ball when EO is up but only 472k when EO is down
(can't just unspec EO because you also need to force multi to be 100% instead of the default 150%), 7143 life, 12.18% crit chance, 11.03 aps.
  • https://pastebin.com/YGbM7DwC : 639k/ball when EO is up but only 456k when EO is down (can't just unspec EO because you also need to force multi to be 100% instead of the default 150%), 7396 life, 12.18% crit chance, 11.03 aps. Could drop some life to pick up Assassination to boost the crit chance to 16.38%
  • https://pastebin.com/hayJFPBs : 542k/ball RT style but with Lyco, 7396 life, 12.18% crit chance, 150% multi, 11.03 aps
  • https://pastebin.com/xyhAHSfS : 593k/ball dual wield, 7239 life, RT, 12.14 aps
