Would it be possible to use a "Blackgleam Fire Arrow Quiver" before getting the Signal fire?

It's a lot cheaper and also has the 50% physical to fire.

Sure, the signa is the upgraded version of blackbleam.

Howdy,

i got some questions, some mechanics/stuff is not that clear for me.

-At the beginning is it better to use "Increased Critical Strikes Support" instead of "Increased Critical Damage Support"? My thought was that at start you dont have that much crit, so it maybe scales better - or am i wrong?

-For LA, as the 6. link i was thinking about "Added Lightning Damage Support" or "Physical to Lightning Support" - what do you think is better? Same question for the Barrage setup.

I hope you or some other players can clear that for me, many thanks in advance.

Nice guide, thanks for taking the time out to write it!

Wondering if there's any chance you could provide some guidance on gear / skill choices during leveling?

Thanks!
Is 5L Death's Opus good enough bow until i get all other expensive parts of the gear? Would that bow be enough to do 15tier maps and such? I will probably want to switch to a GG bow at some point, but before that i want to use the opus. If opus is good enough, will the links be the same as the ones you have linked for tornado shot?

Thanks if advance for response and also thanks for the build!

Why do you skip over most of the frenzy charge nodes? Isn't that one of the primary ways this sort of build scales? Or do you feel it becomes overkill at some point compared to other potential nodes?
Hi, this is great guide will be following it for the new league. Just a question, I thought LA already pierces or am I wrong? (Only played the game for about 2 weeks).
where are the gem links?
I see some LA trees pick pierce nodes from the tree and some don't, why's that?

Im using gmp/wed/addlightning/chain for my LA setup. Do chain and pierce go together, or should i respec out of the pierce nodes?
Sorry everyone for not keeping up with this... been playing a good amount the past few days for the league start.

Just want to give a quick rundown of what I did and how I progressed. I actually decided to play an Elementalist version of the build for fun this league, at least as my first character. The tree is basically the same, except some pathing from Witch start and that wasn't really pretty. Otherwise, I wanted to try out Elementalist for Reflect protection and the Conflux/Prolif it provides. It's been okay so far, but for the most part I'm playing like an archer.

After Day 3, I am level 88 and just started Red Maps after building a decent base of T8-T10. Clear speed is good and the build is pretty smooth overall. Operating on 2x 5L so at this point I can probably clear up to T13 without much trouble before the boss health goes higher.

I leveled as Firestorm until about mid Cruel when I had a servicable rare bow that I found with a 4L. Mainly used Tornado Shot as the main skill and continued to progress with that. If in a group, it's pretty good for leveling as someone who adds to the damage, but isn't the main source. Solo leveling can be a pain if you don't buy some upgrades as you go, but ofc on the first night of the league you don't have much to buy.

I all-in'ed for a Chin Sol at 62 and had to farm a little bit before progressing. Luckily you get plenty of awesome loot with the low level Leaguestones, and that was fun to play around with. You can catch my gear progression in this thread:

Some Notes about Legacy League/2.6 in General:

The new WED cluster by Arrow Dancing is insane. Pick it up because it fits the 100% Elemental conversion theme very well.

I still hate how little life we get. Even with what feels like a pretty solid investment, without more upgrades I'm only sitting at 4.2K Life atm.

With all of the mods in the league, currency acceleration is pretty crazy, and thus gear progression has been pretty smooth after getting an initial farming bow like Chin Sol or Lioneye's Glare (Opus was a bit too expensive for me Day 1). If you're not playing Legacy League, I definitely recommend it.

A lot of League-only stuff is pretty cheap atm. I picked up a Retch for ~32c total (Feastbind and Faminebind) and that has been awesome to play with, especially as you get more Flasks. I'm getting more than 8 seconds of uptime on Vessel of Vinktar and that generally gets the job done. I consider this to be really cheap, and it might get cheaper as the league goes as the belt is pretty underrated.

To address someone talking about the price of Signal Fire, it does seem like Path of Projectiles caught on very quickly. Compared to Path of Blade Flurry in 2.5, at this point last league Signal Fires were the price that I listed. I was pretty lucky to snag a Fire and Brimstone Prophecy for 13c on Day 2. Blackgleam is still good early though, just to scale the damage with WED gem.

To address some questions in the thread:

@WhareRauke: If your Crit is low, you should be using the Increased Critical Strikes Gem, yes. Generally the end-game goal is a Harbinger, so with that setup specifically + tree, using the Diamond Flask would put the user fairly close to the cap.

About the Added Lightning vs Physical to Lightning, in LA as part of the skill you get 50% Physical to Lightning conversion, so paired with Signal Fire you would have 100% of your damage converted. So this is why in the example I choose Crit Multi gem (or Strikes if you need Crit). Core for Lightning Arrow is (LA-GMP-WED) and then whatever else you may need to scale the damage, which is where your PPAD, Pierce, or Crit/Crit Multi gems come into play.

The thing with Added Lightning Damage gem is that it doesn't help scale your base damage that your tree synergizes from (Physical Damage with Bows, etc), so its not going to pull as much weight as a multiplier such as PPAD, Pierce, or investment into Crit/Crit Multi.

@TBDGuyRus: I will eventually add this in. As I mentioned for leveling, I did level as a spellcaster early on, but it is possible to do this as a pure bow character. I did 2 practice runs for this league, one as spell caster and one as bow character. You will not roll through the early content that well if you don't choose the caster route, however, it is still doable.

There are a lot of tools early on at your disposal such as Essences that can make things pretty smooth.

You can start off with Shrapnel Shot > Lightning Arrow > Tornado Shot (a3n) and level from there. Instead of taking the Life Nodes at the Ranger Start, you would take the Projectile Nodes instead. This is mainly because early on 4% Maximum Life is not a lot, but with 2x Iron Ring and a bow that you can constantly upgrade, you'll see some good increases in damage. When I leveled this, I started with a 3L and eventually had a 4L by the time I was in late Normal. Help Tora to Level 2 so you can get the low-tier Flat Physical craft, and you should be able to get by.

If you can buy gear ofc, this is what I would do: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZL84CETIFsM

@heavinhero: Death's Opus is pretty damn good, and is likely strong enough to climb pretty high. To make sure you have success with it, there has to be a big focus on Crit Chance (because the perk is the 150% Crit Multi). Your gear will often dictate how you want to build the links, but it should be the same as shown: TS-GMP-Pierce-PTL-WED.

If you are working with a 5L though, Opus might actually be better if you use LA, since you don't need the PTL gem and can use Increased Critical Strikes in there instead, raising the base Crit of the bow to 9.5% and always taking advantage of the huge amount of Crit Multi it provides.

@asmox: Actually that's just a preference for me, gear on a budget can be expensive so the Cloth and Chain choice in Duelist is mainly there to smooth gearing over. If you are Resist capped without those nodes, you can swap to the Frenzy Charges which are right next to it. Otherwise, I think the only other one I do not get is in Shadow, and for me, it's not worth it to try to squeeze in another Charge, when there are defensive nodes and/or Life Nodes that are necessary for survival. We do use Frenzy to scale damage, but the damage dealer must be alive for there to be damage.

@Jellybee85: LA does not pierce on its own, it hits nearby enemies. When we allow it to Pierce either through Gem/Passives, the "hits nearby enemies" happens multiple times, which is our AOE.

@Khazicx: I have the links in the example gear. For TS, I recommend in a Harbinger Bow TS-GMP-Pierce-PTL-WED.

@Ishamz: What Pierces cannot Chain, and vice versa. So mainly the gem decisions will dictate that. From gameplay I think 100% investment is overkill, and especially since Drillneck has been dethroned since the arrival of Signal Fire. The Pierce chance we get with the rate at which we attack is generally enough for AOE clear.
