after you get 2x Violent Dead there is no need for Melee Splash anymore
i would replace Melee Splash with Maim - its a great addition in both offense and defense
@BeRse:

Matter of taste, I personally prefer the melee splash approach to guarantee AoE hits. You don't need more damage :)

Violent is a hilariously disappointing jewel

even if you use two there is something like a full two second cool down between slams still.

so often you will get that nice feels good slam on the first pack.. but then pack two maybe half of your zombies do their wimpy ass attack.

This gets progressively worse the fewer zombies you have .. or conversely the more minions speed you have

in either case splash is optimal. its optimal for the 250%+ minion speed range because you really do jump between packs in less than two seconds

and its optimal for say montre builds just because there is a much higher chance all of your zombies will be on cool down.


Then there is the issue that well... apart from clear speed .. zombies need durability. and two violent dead jewels means you miss out up to 24% minion life if you use minion damage minion life jewels. that isnt a small amount of life lost (about 1200 - 1500 hp)

so for such a loss they really really needed to be consistent .. and they arent.

plus zombies already do a ton of damage in one hit.. most of the time if they dont one shot a pack .. its because .. they missed .. not because they were down a gem due to melee splash.


its basically an okish jewel you could throw in while leveling a classic summoner .. you know when you dont have a 5l or 6l and you dont want your leveling exp to feel awful..

in that case it is a no brainer .. especially when the jewel vendor is introduced. i mean when its day 1 .. you gona say no to a 10 - 15% minion damage jewel for an alch? probably not .. that will work out even for builds which do not use zombies.


but as a jewel to define zombies by .. to make them interesting like how most of the jewels for other skills do.. nope it is just meh

Hello, I like your build, but the passives are not clear you could set them up, and then they are different from what you see in your video, and I do not know what to follow. thanks very kind.
Hmm gonna have to give this summoner build a miss. They increased Zombie damage by 45% but still left them with the dumb AI. It's just not worth it to me. But thanks for the guide Ghazzy it maybe useful for me one day.

As stated in the thread:
The video is for 2.6, not 3.0.

That also means that the tree will look wierd as pathofexile.com is using the 2.6 tree till Friday. You can check the tree out using poeplanner/path of building or other external offline tree checkers.

Zombie AI was never in the line of hope for this patch for me :/

frankly i was hoping for a movement speed boost or a change to violent dead so that it is more consistent.

While AI would be a nice thing . it is still technically something one work around if build around the quirk

(which is constantly casting a direction skill to get the zombie ai to do stuff)

what cant really be worked around is the clear speed discrepancies steming from the fact that zombies just dont have the movement speed


To behonest it looks like they applied the changes they mentioned in the manifesto but then got heavily side tracked by other stuff.

we never really got any attention to any of the minions during the beta.
