0.9.6 Deployment Timeline - Updated

There will be approximately 20 minutes of downtime while we migrate between database versions. Your passive skills will be reset, but we are not wiping characters and we are not moving characters to the legacy league this time.

I will post patch notes sometime between now and Monday. I have already posted a list of the major points of what's making it in - the real patch notes are pretty similar (one extra keystone, more detail on what the new skills do).

We have learnt in the past that providing full patch notes early has two downsides:
  • People argue for a week about changes without the ability to test them. Your feedback based on playing is amazing, but feedback based on arguing in a forum is something we can do in our own office ;)
  • Once we've posted the formal patch notes, it's hard to modify the patch because small changes are not easy to communicate (as everyone has already read the notes once).

I will also have an update to the Beta Manifesto ready in the next few days, explaining our feelings about a lot of new issues and giving a preview of a lot of stuff we want to get into 0.9.7.

I'm really pleased with this patch and hope you guys enjoy it also.

EDIT: We have delayed the patch by one day. I have adjusted the date below to be the new date.

Wouldn't it just be easier to leave a thread locked only for moderators to post in and communicate the smaller changes in separate follow-up posts? You'll still have the endless bickering but I'm sure some heavy-handed moderating will stamp out most of the annoying drivel since beta keys are so hard to come by in the first place.

That said, I'm pumped for 0.9.6 and I hope some of the issues with dual wielding will be dealt with at last.

Not really. People will then fill up the beta general and feedback forums with nonsense. It's better to delay the notes and give people less time to bicker. You'll still have new threads created, but far less than the alternative.

.96 will be great, but I'm more interested in the Manifesto.

Bickering in the threads is going to happen whenever you post. It would appear that many here 'live' for the bickering.

That said the closer to the actual release the better.
Where is oak?
Can't wait didn't think the patch would be out so soon hope it goes well
Right before my birthday, oh joy :D
-Meteoric Destiny!
Thanks for letting us know when its coming. I've been a bit bored/fried with my marauder, testing out a staff themed Templar now.
Lets bicker about the lack of patch notes

Just kidding xD
this OP kinda makes me want to argue about unreleased patchnotes now
