Announcing the Breach Challenge League and Path of Exile 2.5.0
I wonder if they forgot about Bloodgrip when they were developing Red Trail xD
And worst change is putting almost all bosses in new version of maps into fucking small areas, where you can't kite well or dodge stuff. What a terrible idiot invented that I want say to him: dude flick you, seriously flick you very much.

" Ummm...have you read the stories they linked? Chris pretty much admitted that this league was inspired by Rampage (NOT Beyond, Perandus or Talisman like some others are suggesting), BUT with adjustments to make it feel better. They can't add Rampage to the core game as is, so they're trying to see if there's a better way of doing it. And one of the crucial adjustments is a direct response to your concerns - that Breaches will only stay open for a maximum of 1 minute i.e. you can only extend them for so long, no longer. Similarly with bosses, you only need enough clearspeed to be able to reach them - reaching them even sooner confers no additional benefits (and the fight itself isn't timed). So yes, you'll need to have a decent speed but the league doesn't incentivize simply increasing it ad infinitum. Basically, they weren't happy with Rampage (and neither were most players) and so they're trying to see if there's a better way of rewarding that idea. Another change they've made is to space the fights out (every 10-15 mins apparently) rather than having them always on. In the gameplay videos they've shown, it didn't seem all that hard to keep up with the breach - we'll see. As for the folks mentioning Beyond, Talisman and Perandus - the only similarity with Beyond is that the monsters apparently come from some other realm, similarity with Talisman is that you need to collect stuff to enter another realm and similarity with Perandus is literally just that the mobs are colored (which, btw, makes it more similar to Prophecy than Perandus, especially since we've also got upgradable uniques in this league as well) - I mean, they aren't even on the map unless you choose to activate the portals, unlike in Perandus. All of these are pretty common gaming tropes so you can hardly call them copies. All in all, not the most inventive of leagues, but not bad either. I'd still say Talisman was better (and really should've been incorporated into the core game, along with Warbands, Tempest and, hopefully, Essence), but this should still be fun. The new uniques look quite interesting, but the main test will be in the design of the boss fights. And btw, I plan to play a Scorching Ray build to start off this new league, which is hardly a max-clearspeed skill. If plebs want to abuse broken shit like Blade Flurry, go right ahead. EDIT: Also, one more purple league is fine, but switch to a different color scheme after this please. Ain't got nothing against purple (it's actually my favorite color lol!), but it might get repetitive. I suggest an acidic green next time if you want to stick with a hellish theme...or maybe you can even try angelic white and forge a story involving us exiles having to stop a legion of purist angels trying to "save" Wraeclast from the corruption - we've seen plenty of bad guys in Wraeclast, perhaps it's time to see how terrifying "good" people can be. Would be even better if you tie it in with the Act 5 expansion as being perhaps a new crusade launched from Oriath by Dominus' successor! (less power-hungry, more intolerant - kinda like Voll, I guess). EDIT 2: Please release the full track of that music playing in the background! :D Last edited by Exile009#1139 on Nov 18, 2016, 11:14:17 PM

" I will be honest with you, and I mean no disrespect, but: The more often I stumble across your comments, the less inclined I am to read them for some reason. OK, so this league is rampage inspired... Does that make the concerns I have any less valid? I don't think so. " OK, so what you say is that a cookie-cutter build can get to that one minute margin faster, and engage the boss earlier as a result. Validates my point beautifully. Thanks. " Fact of the matter is and was: Faster clearing builds will be at an advantage regardless. " "Plays bladeflurry = pleb" you really know how to make friends, let me tell you...
It's just, like, people's opinions, man.
But I cannot respect motherf♪♫♫♪rs calling something a simulator, when it isn't one.
Mors edited this post first. |
