" agree also you forgot : Double Strike > Lacerate In a game where only the hit and run is (the only) viable, i'm so thankfull spell totem will be able to cast it ... -30% cast speed I just imagine : you start to cast the scorching ray ( must stay in place to cast it ) when a blue pack of goaties jump on you by the way it will be more efficient to start/stop the spell than trying to turn ( already a broken mechanic ) last thing about it .. the lenght of the "Ray" ... if it's not an AoE ... does it mean we can't change it ?? I really prefered a team skill like a beam of fire shared between all party members (like ancestral power) than this | |
The comparison between incinerate and Scorchin Ray is just stupid.
If anything Scorching ray is an Essence Drain variant. | |
I find "beam weaving" in other ARPGs rather fun, so I guess I'll try it out.
Like many others I'm concerned about survivability though. PoE is a lot more unforgiving than those other games. :-) |

hmm if it will be direct dot, it will be easy to proc EE with something like Orb of Storms. It will then progressively lower res even further , so it seems like a good thing for single target.
BUT since it will be immobile, it will depend on the defenses a lot. If only dot dmg, then no leech applicable. Probably terrible skill for general clearing so it will be only as support single target, but then big ignite probably will do the same. I can picture a necro RF tank with Vortex as main clear spell and Scorching Ray as support. Heavy on the dot I represent only myself, my own thought and believes. I am individual, not a representative of the community.

The more intensely the beam burns, the more it strips away fire resistance
1) Does it lower actual resistance or max? 2) Interesting how powerful it will be with Essences such as: 1. 20% MORE Cast Speed? 2. Helmet: Socketed Gems deal 30% more Elemental Damage + Hierophant ascendancy!!! Or Witch (Elementalist) with -25% ressistance. 3) New Builds based on Fire to Chaos Conversion with 2 (Legacy) The Consuming Dark??? 4) As i understand there are no Critical chance for this skill!? 5) Interesting to see base damage, and Damage effectiveness stats. | |
I wonder how it will work with the fire res decrease for something like double Flameflast totem, if the proc of the lowering fire ress with work with Ancestral Bond keystone.

Will Templar (Inquisitor) will be viable with this skill?
With Sulphur Flask + Zealot's Oath + Shavronne's Revelation = 8% Regen. With 15k+ ES and additional items and passive skills for Life/ES Regeneration, + Arctic Armor (Physical reduction while stationary) it can be tanky. | |

So, no leech and maybee a high dps means
-> try a tanky build. like Aegis Blocker like Witch - Occulist with ES regen and Vile Bastion (0,5% es back on kill for mapping) like totem builds with tank mech. like block/MindOverMatter like max block life base if dps is shit, we need to mix them to increased base dps. (e.g. Totems) |
