With the help of the Writhing Jar flasks worms are spawned, these worms are frozen (mainly by critical strikes), killed and shattered by your Blade Vortex linked to CWDT. Upon shattering an enemy, the enemy explodes dealing the Herald of Ice cold damage. And there is no need that the HoI explosion applies a status ailment, even if it is intended the chance would be low cause the HoI explosion can't crit as far as i know. This makes Elemental Focus a well suited gem for the increases of the HoI explosion damage.


On a map with immunity to status ailments, you won't get any shattered worms and therefore no HoI explosions.

Djfang, I have trouble understanding the way your specific build works :

chance to ignite is obvious, you want more chance to ignite to increase damage exponentially. But what about elemental proliferation ? What use does it have ?

I have a three blue sockets Harvest and I am not especially rich right now to pay for a 4 off color recoloring. So I want to be sure I have to do it. Can't your build work well with another gem ?

I am running ember-taming. I prolif ignites off worms. If there is a more optimal way to obtain 300 ignite stacks in ~3 seconds, I too would like to know. If you can afford the taming+6l harvest you can afford the 2ex~ worth of chroms to vorici 3b a couple of times. If not, you should really stick to opal rings with the deafening hatred essence mod on them.

............. Herald of ice is the main damage outcome...actually if you use the harvest to play blade vortex with the writhing jar.it got the same effect and even more dps. I think this build is just for some guy are lazy to spin blade vortex. My Herald of ice tooltip is 2k dmg with same 4 link with him, and My blade vortex is 6L with 90k dps, If I use harvest for bv I think my bv dps will drop to around 30k, but still more then this wormblaster build with same leech same flask regen. So I think I can just say The harvest op but not this build.

Thanks Djfang for yur answer. Well, the Harvest was given to me and I had to trade almost all my currencies to pay for the helmet and the Taming + emberwake. So I'm gonna wait for the 4 colors.

Vorci 1B should be a bit cheaper than Vorci 3B for BBBBRG (average cost of chromes: 851 vs 1083). I've spent approx. 1400 chromes for my harvest to get BBBBRG.

What a ridiculous statement.

First off, 2k tooltip is probably before on-kill buffs and such, as it is absurdly low. I have 7.7k tooltip post-nerf, so at least use that as a benchmark.
So if I use my worm-flasks 20 times a second, which is what I do for boss-fights, this roughly becomes 154k dps (that's imagining only half of the HoI procs hit the boss, which is a fairly conservative estimate, especially if you have a Dying Sun flask). How is 30k BV supposed to compete with that? Even with horrible gear you should beat out 30k dps any day.

Secondly, you won't be able to sustain flask-charges without enemies around with that much damage on your BV.

Thirdly, if you wanna be scaling that phys damage, you'd be going over to the right side of the tree most likely, right? And you'll grap VP, I'm assuming. Gonna be pretty difficult getting anywhere near the same amount of life with that in mind.

Lastly, The AoE with Herald of Ice far surpasses that of BV as well.

Oups, I just saw Deadly stats, right after I tried and succeded in 600 (I had to empty my hardcore stash for this, but it was worth it). So I tried DJfang build. The first group freezes, the game lags, then everyone else dies as long as I keep killing stuff. Bosses have much more trouble with me now, as they keep getting frozen. Really a nice build to play.

Now I only have to include bloodgrip back into it (star of wraeclast is here to give me needed resistances) and I'll be good.
