New maps only dropping when running an adjacent map really, really sucks

Are you for real? Check my post at the top of the first page. I explicitly complain about not having access to multiple tier 3 maps when I've already pushed well past running tier 3s. My complaint is that I'm not able to access all the low tier content while it's still level appropriate. I'd have to mindlessly grind content I massively outlevel just to unlock even more maps I massively outlevel. That's unbelievably stupid.

You could take another character through. Continue on whatever path you have most unlocked and save the other paths for other characters.

Just that that doesn't work because Atlas progress is shared among all characters. If you attentively read the first few posts, you will see that your suggestion does not solve the issue in any way.

The mechanics is good, but the RNG should be heavily weighed in favor of maps that are adjacent. That would help. That way, unlocking the missing maps would be much easier.

And have Zana sell the maps that are missing.

Getting all four different T16s unlocked without trading is going to be hell as well, BTW.

So self found players can level new characters up to maps to have a chance (not a guarantee, mind you, a chance) to play these maps on appropriately leveled characters. Also, note that the grinding to unlock these maps will at times be excessive. You'll probably still have maps you haven't unlocked left when you're overleveled on this new character. In addition, the problem I have is not being able to play a variety of maps since Atlas mechanics are designed to restrict map variety. Making a new character that is expressly created to grind the same one or two maps over and over and over again is my idea of hell.

Non-self found players, on the other hand, can pay five fucking alts to unlock each of these maps and play them at an appropriate level.

It's the shitty gem problem all over again, only this time with playable content instead of your basic skills and abilities. Self found players are utterly fucked over and everyone else has to waste some time doing a bunch of shitty and annoying trades.
I've been running maps for over 3h yesterday, and haven't progressed a single tier. ATM stuck at t6. Trying to unlock as much as I can, but the bonus doesn't seem to be helping.

While mapping feels less... rushed? It is pretty bothersome to spend so much time progressing the lowest tiers.

Not to mention these maps are only glorified meta-shifts.

I totally feel your pain OP.

As you rightly posted in my thread, where I vented my frustrations after finding out myself the "new and improve" gated map system.

Spending ages grinding low tier maps to get the same shit, and refusing to do maps I dont want to, now means I have even less chance to get maps I do want.

GGG is forcing people to run all the maps, and get all the shitty maps until you finally cover the atlas to have a small chance of getting maps you want from the huge pool of maps you discover and not really enjoyed.

I was expecting so much more from AoW, and instead I got a huge disappointment.
YES I support the game, NO I don't agree with many GGG decisions

Lab still sucks balls.

I miss Zana already.

Just for illustration, my current highest map pool:

Spoiler

Only one map is not Dunes :)

Now, this is not a problem, since I like Dunes, but it shows that Atlas can pigeonhole you into a map type you might not like.

I can only imagine what the "melee fix" is going to look like when that someday comes out.
In case you missed it, melee fix had been already included in 2.4.
BTW, this was a buff (c)
And worst change is putting almost all bosses in new version of maps into fucking small areas, where you can't kite well or dodge stuff. What a terrible idiot invented that I want say to him: dude flick you, seriously flick you very much.
