Labyrinth Traps: please limit the size of Spike Trap fields
Almost died today, with a level 69 Shadow in Normal Labyrinth.
literally 3 HP remaining before some monsters appeared, I could leech from (Vaal Pact). it was several rooms worth of timed Spike Traps - non-stop - combined with Guillotine Blades. there should be a maximum size to these, some monsters in between traps to replenish health, or both. as well as a layout that doesn't heavily capitalize on "blind spots" in line of sight, and off-screen. I have several questions for you John:
- The labyrinth was here last league almost exactly the same. Why didn't you encounter the same problems in the last three months? - Are you saying that this is a problem specific to vaal pact users, or that visibility and monster spawns should be improved for all builds? - Is your real name john or is your nick based on the "keys to the john" phrase a.k.a the keyes to the toilet? - Why aren't you president yet?

johnKeys for president!

" 1) only recently came back to playing. 2) it's a general problem, because if you aren't Vaal Pact you'd still need some way to refill your flasks at least. I'm fine with traps that aren't an "endurance marathon" spreading across about 25% of an entire area. but even a "marathon" type of trap - if exists - needs to have spots which allow for a breather. having one continuous trap that seemingly never ends, is wrong in my opinion. and yes, getting hit by something you had no way to see coming because line-of-sight/off-screen is the real kicker. 3) real. 4) are you allowed to vote in Australia, and help me with that?

" No, sry i can't. I can only vote in Greece and Germany. Btw i don't really remember what the "johnkeys for president" deal was, but i remember it being funny. If you don't want to see it anymore, just say and i'll stop. And if you are really going for president i'm gonna come live in Australia for as many years as it takes for me to be able to vote for you. Also, lab sux plz fix. " Why is Vaal Pact and no Vaal Pact any different? One or two life flasks are usually enough to cross over any of them. And they aren't that huge. They might have implemented a few new layouts, but I haven't found one that is really troubling thus far. |

" It is a major difference to have life regen in the lab. I can run through those spikes with a high life regen char without even paying attention... Try it with a VP, or even a classic ES char (not Occultist)... This type of content should be adjusted to fit the build diversity of poe a bit more imho. Just look at proph league. Why do you think Marohi is one of the most used uniques? People try to adjust their chars to the lab and it hurts diversity. Last edited by flipser#2471 on Jul 23, 2016, 10:36:51 AM

" Labyrinth traps are poorly balanced compared to any boss fights. What I mean is that the attributes, movement speed and life regen rule. Life regen is king but movement speed is a close second. Builds with one or both of those attributes can breeze through the traps. Builds without either one of those attributes are going to have much more difficulty. I looked at the prophecy map labyrinth ladder the other day, in the first few pages about half of the builds were juggernaut, a quarter were pathfinder. It took about page 8 (or 6) for there to be a elementalist and page 18 for a necromancer. Labyrinth is very poorly balanced across the different kinds of builds. Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!

I actually agree here. A lot of the time I think I'm standing in a safe area, then I take damage from a spike trap. I would love some hitbox revision for spike traps. They're currently pretty obnoxious as is.

" the fun fact - once you know how these traps work it doesnt matter if you are VP or not. the VP/non-VP discussion is for the intermediate level. advanced guys know how to not get hit and completely ignore the irrelevant VP (and other 'bad' character traits). pro-players ZAP trough it with dedicated builds if one finds a too long spike trap section - please post the screenshot (it might be from the start of the layout ofc - no need to take any risks). ill explain how to approach it safely with VP and normal movement speed. you know, the classic, no-cheeze way |
