My thoughts: The flavor text ties in with the green/red theme of the item, and I find Brutus to be a fitting charahter to tie to the item, as he is both strong and fast. Also, who is more fitting to father an attack damage belt?!

Ideas for imagery: I imagine the belt looking pretty plain (like the normal vanguard belt does), but probably quite large/thick/bulky, possibly blood soaked, maybe with some keys dangling on the side, lock patterns marked on the belt, or other such prison-related imagery.

My thoughts: Really wanted to do a Fairgreaves suggestion as well! While it might not be so clearly green/red related, I think the savagery/civilisation theme ties in well with the onslaught/fortify theme of the belt!

Ideas for imagery: Probably a black leather belt in a Woven-quality, with som whip-tails dangling out. Maybe even to nine-tailed whips tied together, with the the two handles hanging down for the sides/front of the belt.



Had a lot of fun with these, hope the dev's, community and Ziggy likes them!

Raulo's Pendulum
"As the Pendulum Swings, the Scorpion sets to Strike" - Fidelitas, the mourning.

Fidelitas is an almost undescribed character, but one of the foremost slayers of young exiles (especially in the olden days!).

The idea of the pendulum ties in with the whole movement/damage or evasion/attack theme of the item.

The image side might be a bit more difficult, as the idea of a pendulum does not look so much like the mainly leather vanguard belt model. (but hey, you have great artist, so give it a go!)

It's very simple, doesn't touch on lore or anything, but it goes perfectly with the most unique mod the belt has, "Onslaught while Fortified".

Fortify = What doesn't kill me
Onslaught = Makes me stronger

More damage the more mitigation you have, being stronger the less things can kill you, also works with this saying.

Get it?

Maybe there's a way to work something else into it to make it more original and maybe include a lore character as well, like add another sentence to the end of it (Karui and/or Kaom related).

Of course. What is there not to get? "What doesn't kill me makes me stronger" is cliché it gets.

That is why, generally speaking, we are submitting 'creative' falvour texts to say the same thing (almost, but not quite, and sometimes not at all) so as to not be obvious to an abhorring degree.

It's already been done, there are blatant, widely known sayings used as flavor text. I also already put forth the notion that it should be changed to be more original at the end of the post.

How is obvious a bad thing? Does all flavor text need to be deciphered?

Also I'm at work so the post was in edit-limbo for a bit while I added to it. But I'm no writer, it's only a seed of an idea, didn't claim otherwise (actually quite the opposite, I stated it's weaknesses up front), not sure how figured your comments were necessary.

For posterity I'm inserting my finalized parts into my quoted post above in tags.

I think its pretty darn fitting :D. You could even remove the "Daft Punk's" and name it "Golem Flesh". The flavor text is a pretty well known song of theirs that has been remixed a few times. Its exactly what this item brings to mind.

I thought it is fitting of a str/dex based belt and synergises well with the other 2 items

Trinity's demise


swift is related to evasion
lightning related to lightning coil

sturdy related to armour
steel related to a material in some coils wich also reffers to lightning coil

strength for the damage bonus of the item
providence related to devoto's devotion

trinity's since it is related to three things, armour, evasion and damage

No, not too much else to add, other than the fact you did not comprehend the reason why I replied to your post in the first place, because yes, we 'get it', almost as if you were insinuating nobody does in the snooty-like way you said it in the comment you made, for lack of better way to put it.

As for everything else in your post, I know you were honest and upfront about not being original on your end (that is fine), and I did not judge you in particular on that. It is the way you delivered the other part of your post that did not sit well with me for already said reasons.

Furthermore, yes. When / if somebody enters a flavour text competition (whatever you prefer to call it), the flavour text should be more memorable and powerful beyond something so blatantly cliché as said before in my other reply since the OP openly suggests we submit memorable and powerful flavour text submissions. Why? Because whoever's flavour text wins is going to remain in the game until PoE dies.

No. It was an elaboration regarding the fact most of us here 'get' what the OP wants us to deliver within our flavour text submissions, and that most of us here 'get' what the mods on the belt imply that inspire relevant flavour text.
