The Peoples Champion Vanguard Belt
"From among the masses stood only one in the end. Stronger than steel. Faster than sight." I wanted to highlight that "The masses" of poe created the belt with the name and the first line. Afterwards I wanted to focus on the "Armor/Evasion" bit with the last part of the flavor text while keeping the flavour text short and simple. A few different suggestions depending on which lore the belt best fits:

Name ideas:-
Girdle of the Colloseum God (Colloseum is an arena kind of map, and Daresso is the boss there) Belt of the Undisputed Champion (Well yeah.....) Unrelenting Momentum (Fortify makes you feel like an entrenched fortress.Onslaught makes you feel like an unstoppable frenzied maniac. Combine both of them, and you get a human freight train.) Flavour Text:- "The famed combatant Fammal, the previous sword king Though he was Daresso's better, he fell to his swing For even his surest blows couldn't find their mark And those that did, felt like twigs against a bark" Note:- Originally the last line had "little more than" instead of "like".However, i think it adds unnecessary length.Also, using "like" here is much more clear. When i first checked out path of exile in 2013, i was blown away by the skills page and the flavour text for the skills.I am a sucker for skills and lore, and the skills page reminded me of the arreat summit diablo skills page. There, in the Double Strike and Dual strike descriptions you can see info about the famed arena combatant Fammal. However, since Daresso is the sword king, and there is no mention of Fammal, we can assume he went out of prominence before daresso's time period OR daresso defeated him. Also, Daresso mentions in one of his plaques about "The Previous Sword King" who was stronger and faster and better than Daresso, but still lost. So i thought, hey, why not make that previous guy Fammal?? Also, the last 2 lines of the belt imply that powerful fantasy of stacking huge evasion and armor.Most of enemies's blows will miss, and the ones that do get through will be mitigated.Also Daresso had chugged boatloads of granite and jade flasks before the fight :D |

Entry 1:
Dancer's Wrap (or wrappings) Dancer's Silks Flow like the meadow winds, strike like a surging sea. The idea is taken from defensive martial arts; a length of loose cloth can wrap a blade and render it useless to harm you, but you have to move both quickly and gently to enfold the weapon as your opponent strikes. Lots of gracefully trailing ribbons can mask your movement as the eyes forget to follow you and focus instead on the ribbons behind you. Just look at This Video for example. Entry 2: Charge of the Vanguard Spear and sword slam against shield, as opposing armies take to the field. Horses snort, soldiers rage, and generals call. The vanguard line up to take the charge, shouting- "Death and glory to them all!" |
