So I tried a +3 staff with Vortex on my Champion (Full Melee build) as an offhand and the damage was just insane. It's obvious this skill is pretty broken, but I already had everything so might as well push it a bit for the trappers and HoT guys out there. After Rlowe explained to me how Frostbolt+Vortex worked (I had no idea lol THANKS BRUH!), I wanted to create a tanky spell caster that could take a few hits while also taking the DoT portion of Vortex all the way. Obviously if you're going to go for pure damage/aoe, you'd go Elementalist, but I hate being one-shotted so much I wanted to try a tanky Guardian.

Guardian has 3 great features for PVP:

Harmony of Purpose = Your enemies cannot gain any charges (

Time of Need = Every 5 seconds you get 30% life regen (GREAT synergy with a Scolds/BM Caster), every 5sec all curses/ailments cleared, and curses have 25% reduced effect on you all the time.

Bastion of Hope = Every 5 seconds 50% additional block chance which overcaps my block.

Frostbolt is very important because it is the Vortex delivery system. With Faster Proj/GMP/FB self cast in my gloves and bmp/fb in my boots, there are plenty of spots for you to place a Vortex.

I am overcapped on all my resistances. The raw values standing in town are on the pics above but we will talk about:

Chaos 76% <---- Chaos is extremely important in PVP because the chaos clouds from SRS will eat your lunch in a split second, not to mention all the other chaos damage that is in PVP. That is one downside of not being CI, but then again we can use life pots with instant recovery and don't have to worry about any mana regen!

I'll add more videos here later, I just wanted to post this because I've had a few people wanting to reroll in HC and SC Prophecy and try this out.

Please do realize this skill is a PVP build and not your normal turbo-clearspeed-meta build. Also realize that Vortex is an insanely OP skill in PVP at the moment, and even as someone who is messing around with it right now, I hope it gets a nerf later because it's just insane! Hahaha... Anyway I hope everyone enjoys! Let me know what you think or if you have questions!

Also good to see the build, but I recommend nuking that dumb sapphire ring you use as a swapout. Not very good, you know?

Looks nice. No ele overload? You would only need to spend 1 passive, and put an ice spear into the boots instead of ice bite.

I'm surprised you are not using clear mind, it's pretty bis jewel for BM caster.

4 jewels, total of 25% life and all got 3 good damage stats.

well I told him he could respec the witch cold cluster as the main selling point is the penetration and you don't use it on vortex.

Hey guys! Appreciate the comments, all the suggestions are more than welcome, and I encourage that! There's often something I miss or can improve upon, as many of you are more knowledgeable than myself ( especially with casters).

Rlowe gave me his ice spear to try out in my boots right before I signed off last night, and yes I'm going to mess around with ele overload, Tommie recommended trying that as well when he was giving notes on my tree. Thanks again to Tommie/Icedeal/Rup for giving notes on the tree, I should've said that in my original post (will edit) but I posted in a hurry.

I think for pve I would use a clear mind with immune to silence, but for pvp I'm just too obsessed with the precious life nodes :) especially considering I'm only level 92. But I will definitely weigh my options!

The cold cluster is very nice for cold damage regardless of the pen I thought, would you recommend something else instead since I don't use the pen? Genuine question, nosnark!
