[2.3][Prophecy][lvl 96, R28] Mjolner Voll's Juggernaut 6.9k hp, high damage+clear speed, high budget

I have been playing this build and i totally love it! Its the 2d build i play further then 90 and i love it so much. Its a fast and safe lab clear able to face tank almost all mods even yestorday where it was conduits and gargoyles. And i managed to clear a Twinned core (corrupted unid Enfeeble+ no regen and more). Only thing i have not done yet is uber atziri but im not so fimiliar with the fight so i need to practise it first.

Some thoughts. I feel like this build would rly love Vaal haste so im using it instead of the self cast immortal call and use a high lvl cwdt setup instead. Seems to work out rly well.

Also would running blood rage for the attack speed lower the dps cus of more mixed charges? Or would it improve cus attack speed?

What's the advantage of this build compared to https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1688570/page/1? This one seems pretty tanky too...

That build is also pretty good. Problem is it gets 1 less endurance charges and doesn't use Devotos (less movement speed and attack speed). It also recommends some odd flasks, not the triple resistance ones. It does not have a self-cast Immortal Call setup, wich is what makes this build so safe at harder bosses. It also has some odd skill choices in Lightning Strike. And let's not forget the most important: it gets almost 2k less life than our build, and that means a lot.

That build should clear safer - because of the higher armor - but slower (movement speed issues). At bosses it doesn't matter because we are using Immortal Call self cast. The Blasphemy setup that build introduces can be used on a corrupted Romira (curses enemies on hit) and a Level 4 Enlighten if you really wanna min-max.

Both builds are good, but if you're using the one you linked I highly suggest using this flask setup:

Sub Immune to Shock to Immune to Bleeding on the first flask if you're not using Death's Door.
You can also swap Immune to Curse with Immune to Shock between flasks to better suit your taste.

I'd like to add to this build that I've peaked 6 minutes 46 seconds on Uber Lab so far with 4 keys, getting 3rd place that day (wasn't that good of a layout). There is no way you're getting first place with this, but it is one of the best (if not the best) builds to farm max key runs efficiently.

Blood rage would only increase dps and is fine to use, but you have to swap something out for it, just like with vaal haste.
Thanks for answering!

I haven't created the character yet, I'm working on getting voll's devotion. In the meantime I'm deciding which build I should make.

I'm between yours and https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1667160

That one uses RF and has a lot of block jewels as well as 6k hp.

I think your build is winning though ^^, can you compare your build to the one I've just linked?

Oh btw, if I do this build would a 6L Kingsguard would be worth it? I have one, but maybe it's better to sell it and get a 5L and use that money somewhere else!

EDIT:

Also, can you talk a bit about double discharge in mjolner? This guy said this about your build when I asked there if they could compare Thundercane's build vs yours.

Don’t let the 7k HP fool you. Life pool is only a small fraction of how tanky a build is. To make this easier I’m going to go through the statistics one by one.

1) Thundercane has a slightly higher attack speed (6.0 vs 5.7). Just gives us a slightly higher DPS modifier.

2) Thundercane has a ridiculously higher amount of armor (25k), allowing you to facetank end game bosses. 5k armor mitigates almost nothing with the high end phys hitters. This is one of the major factors that makes doing Uber Atziri easy and deathless.

3) Thundercane has a substantially higher maximum resistance for all elements. (We have 88/87/80 vs the other 84/79/79). Now this may not seem like a lot, but it truly is. If he takes 10000 lightning damage, he only feels 2100 lightning damage, but we only feel 1300 lightning damage. This means that he takes 60% MORE damage than we do. Now when elemental damage is very huge and lethal (Uber Atziri and regular Atziri), it is important to keep these high resists.

A few general build differences:

Thundercane doesn’t use Repetance gloves. The damage is compensated with Controlled Destruction, Fire Penetration, and Elemental Weakness (all 3 apply multiplicatively MORE damage). This yields a lot more damage than the 80% increased spell damage that the gloves provide. You also get to use rare gloves which lets you add more life, attack speed, and resistances.

Thundercane uses Alpha’s Howl instead of Devoto’s Devotion for the Aura boost. The immunity to freeze is also nice. If you want that movement speed and attack speed from Devoto’s, that’s fine. That’s all they’re really good for.

He uses two discharges which doesn’t actually do what you would expect. There are threads on reddit and POE why double discharge in Mjolner doesn’t work. In short: the second discharge either has no charges left or only a power charge so it’s pretty much useless. Even the Rainbownuke build explains why two discharges don’t work.

He wastes a 4L on just Shield Charge. Don’t do that…

His boots are actually ideal. I’ll be switching to Death’s Door once Prophecy ends.

Thundercane has a free 3L to put whatever you want in it. (I used CWDT - Tempest Shield - Flame Golem).

Thundercane uses Lightning Strike and Molten Strike in the same 6L for ease of clearing and bossing at the fastest speed.

TLDR: Thundercane is more efficient in the skill tree and gear is oriented more towards tankiness other than damage. This build is certainly safer when it comes to endgame, but it also yields more damage when bossing (map clears don't matter because all Mjolner builds 1 shot packs anyway).

84/79/79 is without triple purities. We get 84/83/83 with them and then 90/89/89 with flasks up. So the elemental reduction is a little bit better than that other build.

We also have freeze immunity. Alpha's Howl is useless in that aspect, Juggernaut's unstoppable makes you immune to freezing, chilled ground and temporal chains by itself.

You can also add Controlled Destruction through dropping one discharge on this build. You can add Ele Weakness through Repentance's corruption, although that's very high end min maxing.

I'd prefer if OP commented on double discharge though.

On the shield charge thing: well I personally prefer using a lot of movement speed with Cyclone+inc aoe. It just has much more DPS at packs compared to shield charge and I find it better to move around walking when you have 129% inc movespeed with flasks up.

I'm 100% sure that double discharge works and deals full damage. I have tested with 1 discharge vs 2, and with a lvl 1 discharge and lvl 20 discharge in varying order and the damage is consistent with both discharges dealing full damage (10 EC + 1-3 PC that is). You may be confused with pre-unrelenting times, when double discharge was bad.

Explanation:

Before unrelenting double discharge:

assume 3 PC, 3 EC before hitting mob.
Mjolner procs, casting both discharges in succession:
the first discharge consumes 3 PC and 3 endurance charges, and procs both romira's and voll's to generate 1 PC and 3 EC.
The second charges then consumes these charges, leaving you with 1 PC and 1 EC after romira's and voll's.
Mjolner procs again casting both discharges. Now both discharges only consume (and generate) 1 PC and 1 EC, so you lose loads of damage.

With unrelenting double discharge:
assume 1 PC, max EC before hitting mob.
Mjolner procs casting both discharges in succession:
the first discharge consumes 1 PC and max EC, and procs both romira's and voll's to generate 1 PC and 1 EC. Then unreleting makes this max EC, so you now have 1 PC and max EC
The second discharge consumes 1 PC and max EC, and procs both romira's and voll's to generate 1 PC and 1 EC. Then unreleting makes this max EC, so you now have 1 PC and max EC

So every discharge proc consumes and generates max endurance charges.

I'll add this to the guide.
