Despair most certainly inflicts damage. However, it does this by way of Damage over Time (a debuff on the enemy), as opposed to dealing Hits. That's the distinction that matters :>
Damage actually doesn't matter: Hits that deal zero Damage do apply on-Hit effects.

Er, I thought Despair only increased chaos damage taken, either inflicted by hits or by DoTs. Does it inflict damage by itself, instead of merely increasing damage ?
I'm a fucking moron and I'm bad with names. Ignore me.
Ah, you were thinking about Desecrate? ^^

Anyway, you were right on the principle : the correct condition is not "dealing damage" but "hitting".

I'd been attempting to acquire an Oni-Goroshi before the drop rate is nerfed. I happen to have characters that I have previously used to farm the "Beginners Luck" achievement. They were created before Oni-Goroshi was released on December 20, 2017 but have never left the twilight strand. They are already a high level, so I was wondering if I could help myself to some swords by using them.
My question is whether or not my characters will be able to encounter uber hillock if they are so old or if they would somehow take longer or shorter than a fresh character.

Thanks.
so was wondering about how Daresso's Defiance works with jugg would you lose endurance charges before or after you gained them from jugg when hit

The following effects will take priority before modifiers from Daresso's Defiance take place:
- trigger gems such as Cast when Damage Taken
- Juggernaut's passive Unflinching

So you gain charges before Daresso's Defiance removes them.

Another Beacon of Ruin question:

Assuming you pass the threshold to shock a target by 5%, Beacon of Ruin will set it to 20%.
Is "increased effect of non-damaging ailments" calculated before beacon of ruin sets it to 20% or after?

(If the former was the case, most often would increased effect of ailments against bosses be useless for characters with Beacon of Ruin. If the latter was the case, Beacon of Ruin, which comes with a 20% increased effect in itself, would shock for at least 22%.)

The latter. (And it's 24% by the way.)

The only other spells he had linked with this set , in parenthesis was Orb of storm...and or Despair. Would those make it work?

Orb of storms will work, as long as you spend enough mana to trigger Arcane Surge. I recommend playing a low-level Arcane Surge gem, as you probably don't want to spam Orb of Storms.
Despair won't do, however, as it does not inflict damage to enemies.

Again thank you for taking the time to help. It is appreciated! I only have ever used orb on single target boss fights..so perhaps that is what he is thinking...Cheers!

Juggernaut + Tectonic Slam.

I have three endurance charges. I use Tectonic Slam, which expends one of them. TS deals damage to an enemy. Is the damage bonus to this hit from the Unyielding node 10% or 15%? I believe the charge is spent when the skill is used, and damage is calculated when it hits an enemy - thus it should be only 10%. Is this correct? Or is there some special mechanic which "snapshots" the number of charges when you use the skill?
