[2.6] The Curse Whisperer - Tri-Curse CI Whispering Ice Elementalist - Viable for Everything
" wi was never cheap. not the past 3 leagues anyway |
|
" Well i made my wi uberlab viable with around 5 exalted spend. But now wi is gonna be a pain to run lab with since we can only cast for like 1-2 seconds and then gotta move again so the fight is gonna take a lot longer, not to mention that we will kill various adds and such that we aren't meant to kill for extra keys, so perhaps it's just time to look for a new build that is life based and has insane damage so that we can yet again negate the mechanics. |

Looks like the build will have a few obstacles coming its way but its a bit too soon to put the noose up because more changes are likely to come during the beta.

RIP CI. The overall ES nerf and VP especially means that CI will suck for facetanking. VP will still be working with Life, so we should be looking into a Life-based version. However, this build is based on Int, and Int doesn't do anything for Life, so there goes one of the core synergies used by this build. Then again, Int gives you mana, and MoM was recently buffed.
Another interesting aspect of using Life is that it won't require stun immunity. Stun recovery on the belt will be QoL, but in general stun won't be a big deal anymore. The whole branch leading to US will be open for re-allocation. We'll still need resists, of course. Including probably some Chaos, so there will be something to think about. @Black_Gun: yeah, something like MoM Berserker. Can finally use Cloaked in Savagery, the 'Ascendancy Vinktar'. The big question is if it will be able to survive big hits. Getting suicide bombed by Volatile rares was already my pet peeve on the Berserker, the lack of ele defenses was that class'es weakness compared to the other three. Although I'm not giving up on the Elementalist either. We'll see what other changes GGG reveals closer to the release time. So far looks like we'll be moving from CI to MoM, stun immunity won't be needed anymore, but survivability remains to be seen. |

Looking at all this feedback in manifesto theme - they may add some kind of "flat ES per hit" gem, that will wrk only with spells, like life per hit for attacks.

i managed to make a tree for 2.6 with beserker mom in mind. the damage could still be there but to get survivabilty and dps.. that's a different story. you could get 6-7k life and 3k mana, don't reserve any and put in a clear mind for some extra dps. The numbers can reach up to 30k dps but that's with more skill points needed than ci versions of the build and really really gg gear. we would need 50 int + life + res on all pieces of gear. it won't be easy to achieve. we still have to wait for the 3.0 tree to see how stuff would really work. so far it's hard to even chose avatar of fire over regular cold dmg icestorm. you can get more dps on paper without avatar of fire. but then you'll only be benefiting from the life from kaoms heart and nothing else.
anyway, 6.5k life -7k life with 3k mana still won't save us from one shot mechanics. i had a different beserker high leech build using bv and mom but mana would never replenish as fast as life. as far as cold vs fire goes.. cold = more points and more pen: cold pen + wise oak + frostbite + frostbomb. but again, all of this looks great on paper with gg gear and a minimum lvl 94. le: also, using blight and chill might make stuff safer when mapping, possibly on certain boss fights too if they will change the way that ailments work on bosses. " ofc MoM falls off during facetanking since mana leech isnt instant and still capped by the 20% per second leech cap. but with 7k+ life and 100% instant leech and enfeeble and temp chains, I doubt that many things that we deliberately facetank will provide true oneshot potential. MoM is mostly there to safeguard us against oneshots from volatiles, or say we try to move out of a boss slam and dont make it in time... but yeah, it isnt the greatest use of all our int. but with ES no longer worth shit, I dont see any other option to keep this build going. the only alternative defensive approach I could imagine is occultist. occultist would render our ES recharge the main defensive mechanic. the 100 flat ES would help make up for base ES lost on our gear. the extra curse comes in handy, as does the 10% more damage on enemies that we curse. in such a setup, the life leech from warlords mark would probably be enough to hit the leech cap, so that we could forgo the life leech gem. this means another 45% more multiplier which makes up the lack of other damage pushs on the occultist ascendancy as well as the 5-10ish passive points we have to spend on additional defenses. (essence surge et al.) so occultist could probably work as well; but would obviously be less strong defensively than builds that actually outleech damage taken. even with a highly buffed ES recharge rate, I doubt that recharge rates could be high enough to counter the damage we take while facetanking a guardian. edit: yet another idea I just had: what about WI totem chieftain? we gain enough leech from hinekora's sight to hit the leech cap, plus some ZO ES regen and some ES recharge. the build would allow us to move around and dodge stuff while the totems do the work. no more worries about reflect, no more necessity of facetanking... welp... lets hope for a "flat ES on hit" gem, because that would be so OP with icestorm ^^ Last edited by Black_Gun#7476 on May 19, 2017, 9:37:46 AM

the thing is... wi was only strong because of the potential to outleech anything. that's it. it doesn't have insane dps or anything like that. it just had great defense through leech. as of right now, i'm not sure it will be worth it to bother with the build. as i said, looking at things on paper on the 2.6 tree , a life based build can work fine and it doesn't even have to be fire dmg. the problem comes in getting gear. stacking life is hard enough already... getting life and int and res on your gear for wi is gonna be even harder. and when i say this, i'm referring to t1 rolls because anything less than that is not enough dps and not enough life.
i'm confident that if beserker stays the way it is, the build will not be dead at least for that class. it's just not gonna be a league starter anymore. it's not gonna be a lab farmer(which ci wi did exceptionally on any class). it will take more currency investment and time played than before to get it ready for endgame content. ofc... we still need to see the 3.0 tree. :) |

" Occultist can have very OP ES recharge with very expensive gear, but low DPS compared to what we used to have with this build. " I've tried the WI Chieftain last year (Free__Hugs in my profile; most of the gear was moved but he still has the staff/gems and the tree). Totems is a totally different play style. You have to dodge everything, and no, it's not easy at all even with some leech from the totems. Encounters like Core Malachai suck (a lot of AE damage everywhere). Things like Uber Trio/VT are really hard. And a special prize goes to Bloodlines/Order of the Frozen Sky - it'll drive you crazy. |

Of course I\after coming back days ago from a break I pick this build up only to find out its time is about up.....man gg, GGG.
