i think we use link cwc-sr-element focus-cold to fire and fire pen life leech now, fire pen is a must

Just wondering if Pyre in standard is going to be legacy now.

I think since there's now a ring slot free with Pyre nerfed, and this build uses a unique helm, amulet, rings, and weapon (at a minimum), that's 10% increased intelligence from the Perandus bonus, which is a decent boost to ES and helps offset some of the DPS lost by using a CtF gem instead of a "more" damage gem. Plus, wisdom scrolls!

Still curious as to how much Pyre gets nerfed, because it might still be viable combined with AoF. The beefy Fire and Cold resists you lose replacing Pyre with Perandus Signet is going to hurt.

That makes more sense, I was thinking about it the wrong way, assumed that Pyre would remain in the gear setup. But I suppose it all depends on how much it gets nerfed.

Why is leaving icestorm as a cold skill so much worse than wasting gems/ unique slots converting it to fire? Assuming you are casting it manualy over cwc scorching ray.

The benefits of converting to fire are explained in the Build Theory section. They are much larger than the difference between the two conversion schemes.

No, it replaces one of the blue DPS gems: either EF or CE. We'll have a socket for 1 such gem, so I'd use EF for clearing and CE for endgame bosses. But FP is too good to drop even if we have Mastermind. Resist penetration is a huge MORE multiplier, especially against bosses and other resistant enemies.

Dropping Pyre frees up a ring slot. Perandus Signet used to be the best option, especially the legacy 3% variant (good timing with the Legacy league!). A really good Opal ring may also work well.

Me too! If they leave a legacy version it will be the preferred option for Standard. Surely there will be tons of them still available for years, who cares if they cost 20c instead of 1 alc. You can still find legacy Perandus Signet easily even though it was nerfed 1.5 yr ago and is a T1 unique.


Need to hear more details from GGG now. For example, if Pyre is nerfed to convert 50% instead of 100% then there will be a 3rd option to consider: keep Pyre and just get AoF for 2 points.

I really want to keep pyre. Right now I don't have near enough currency to go around shopping for high resist gloves, belt and chest with additional int and ES on top of that. Pyre eases hitting the resist cap on cold and fire by a whole lot and all I need to focus on is lightning resist.
