[2.6] The Curse Whisperer - Tri-Curse CI Whispering Ice Elementalist - Viable for Everything

I mean, you're not wrong. I'm just lazy and rich, so I'd rather risk the 50/50 chance of getting what I need and move on.
Alright OP, spill the beans.

Do you think your berserker version of this build is coming along better than elementalist? Obviously you have more leech, a 40% more modifier, and can't be stunned, but you take more damage and lose a lot of increase damages from ele, double golem, increased aoe, etc.

Thoughts so far?

Also, would you say that astramentis is BIS, or could a rare ammy with 70-80 int, 50-60 str, and a bunch of ES% and flat ES be just as good?

First time lvling CI in Hardcore has been fun.... actually a lot more doable with Vaal Pact and Warlords + Leech gem.. just gotta roll nice flasks and get a Vaal Discipline. Just done Cruel Piety with no Ascendancy so far:

Heading to Unwavering at the moment, skipping a lot of the damage nodes as it's reallly good. Highly recommend Scorching Ray + Cast When Channeling as well, really deals with mana and helps melt bosses.

sorry, but you have absolutely no clue how probabilities work. there is no such thing as "an item having bad luck bound to it" which could be "tested" by trying some... essentially, processes like chroming or fusing are internally done by a markov chain, whose determining property is the "memorylessness", i.e. new rolls are independent from previous rolls.

here, take a look at the chrome calc yourself: https://siveran.github.io/calc.html

with vorici 1B, the average chrome cost to hit 3B1R is 203 chromes, the standard deviation is 50.34 attempts or 201 chromes. with vorici 2B, the average cost is 233 chromes, with a standard deviation of 8.81 attempts or 220 chromes. with vorici 3B, the average cost is 273.4 chromes, with a standard deviation of 1.71 chromes or 205 chromes. so the variability in chrome costs is actually not lower with 3B compared to 1B!

the reason for this is simple: when you do vorici 3B, the one reamining socket has 3 options; getting blue on it is quite unlikely. green or red have the same probability. so you are almost guaranteed to get either 3B1R or 3B1G, but in half the cases its 3B1G, i.e. the fourth color will miss. therefore, you have a slightly lower than one in two chance to hit 3B1R when doing vorici 3B. (the average number of required attempts is 2.3, the standard deviation is lower at 1.71 since the distribution is asymmetric...)

tldr: everyone should be doing vorici 1B, no matter what.

I haven't mentioned "items with bad luck". I mentioned your luck. Until you waste a few hundred chromatics on vorici 1B you will never know if you will get it. You might as well do maths, take averages, get the number of chromatics needed and whatever, if you have bad luck you will never get 3B1R. What the calculator tells you is irrelevant: it does the math on how likely you are going to get the colors you need. As I already told before, the calc said I needed 70 chromatics and I used 200+. There is no better option because you can't know whether you will get what you want. The average fusings, for example, to 6L an item is around 1000-1500. There are, however, no lack of stories about using a few thousand more. The average, in this case, tells you nothing.

of course the average doesnt tell a lot about an individual's luck or lack thereof. of course individuals can get unlucky. but you dont know beforehand if you will be among those few that get really unlucky. but since you dont know, it is a very sane approach to go down the route with the best average outcome.

there are exceptions, of course there are, I totally give you that. it can, for example, make sense to chose an approach that has higher expected costs, but lower variability, if you are poor. the average number to 6L an item is somewhere between 800 and 1000 fusings (with 20quality...); vorici 6L costs 1500 fusings. so if you have 1800 fusings and need the 6L to continue farming efficiently, then it might totally make sense to take vorici 6L, despite the higher average costs.

the main difference to us trying to get 3B1R on the black sun, however, is that vorici 6L guarantees you to get what you want. the standard deviation is indeed lower than when self-fusing. as I laid out in my previous post, this is not the case for us. doing vorici 3B does NOT offer lower variability and therefore does NOT have lower tail-end risk than vorici 1B. hence, when you do get very unlucky, doing 3B will cost you about the same amount of chromes as doing 1B with shitty luck. in both cases, it might take 400+ chromes to hit our goal.
Spoiler

Very fun and strong build. The only thing bothers me it to get my enlighten to lvl 3. I can't even dream it to be lvl4 tbh.

I waste a few points to get mana reserve from the tree and right now i have 7.9k es, 5.9k tooltip dps while both of the golems and the pendulum buff are up.

my leap slam, fortify and faster attack gems arent linked yet but even like this its very tanky.

can do tier 13 maps without a problem. havent tried 14 and above yet.

i lvled up a second character just for this build. my old bf/berserker build was not even near of this in terms of survival and dps.

Merry Christmas !

I did my first two Breachzones, got owned by Tul because I forgot to prepare for it, just went yolo style but the good part is I got a nice drop from it ^^

Spoiler

Maaaan where do you guys find these boots and gloves ? I can't find anything better (with enough res) than my 1c stuff from level 60 or something like that... Still at 6500 ES. I guess I am going to really need crafting the crystal belt for some res.

Have fun and happy holidays !

Except maybe in some breaches, I've had zero problems with fps. I'm running a GTX 970.
I did it! CI Leveling complete! Went CI at lvl 33 like the guide suggested... I was skeptical but it worked out alright. Only thing I got help with was Cruel Malachai, because I'm a baby.

Just grinding dat lake atm, got absolutely no currency after trying to roll an i84 Vaal Regalia.

5.3k ES / 2k tooltip now in lake with up to Cruel lab done.
