The Endgame Labyrinth
please, really, really make some BIG changes to the lab... it is in theory a good idea but in current form it is a chore, boring, unrewarding. the rewards arent the problem, you could grant 10 exa for finishing , and people would still not like it.. the boring part is the problem!! the lab itself is uninteresting. forget about weird spinning wheels in meaningless endless samey looking corridors.. add more critters, add critter traps, like in cowards trial map, make each room special make the player want to see the next room, not rush around hoping for it to end to grab some points, design a few by hand instead of the random generator.
one more lab in current form is like one more slap in the face.. fix the lab dont add more of the same! when I die in the lab I want to feel like, sh* I messed that up, I need to try harder. Currently all I feel is god, I have to go through all that once more.. like having to watch a really bad movie a second time. fix the lab please!!!! you said the lab was inspired by the old steve jackson type novels.. in those novels you always wanted to see what was in the next room. yes your ultimate goal is to leave the lab, but the rooms themselves need to be fun!! have finally gotten used to the lab... I dont hate it anymore.:) Last edited by Xirgu#3997 on May 25, 2016, 7:30:19 PM

As somebody who hates the lab I must say, please stop! It's bad enough that these cancerous areas where you must follow cancerous game mechanics are mandatory, now they're in maps and even more in your face. If I wanted to sit and wait for obstacles to move I'd go play frogger, pacman. or some other awful game. This isn't way I play PoE, to dodge saws and abuse whirling blades.
Leave lab in the game for but for fucks sake remove the mandatory part. We shouldnt be forced into something we hate doing in a freakin game, its a game this is for fun. Lab is not fun, you screwed up. Remove it. Buy the ticket, take the ride. Last edited by p0t#2885 on May 25, 2016, 7:32:59 PM

As someone who doesn't do Lab much more than for the ascendancy points for each character I still feel like it was a really good addition to the game.
It's different, yes, but after playing the game for all these years, I wanted something different, something that wasn't just about killing things but actually using the mechanics of the game to get past challenges. To me, that was a really cool way of making that happen and feel fresh. Will I be farming it for enchants after? Probably not if that's the only reason to do it, at least definitely not for helm. It does create a side market for people to sell enchants on good bases, and I'll still enjoy the hell out of it times I'll be doing it, especially now that the fonts seem to prevent you from just whirling blades through everything. I understand the lots of people who hate the lab, and how vocal they are about it, but I'm sure there are a lot of us that like me just haven't ever really spoken about it because there isn't anything inherently bad about it in my opinion. |

The Existing Labyrinth/Trials of Ascendancy
We've changed the existing Trials of Ascendancy so that your progress is shared between all characters in the league. If you complete a Trial, then you won't need to later complete that one on a subsequent character in that league. THANK YOU!!!! WOOHOO!!!! Can't stand it, hate doing it, but glad I only have to do it once. Chant with me: "No more lab! No more lab!" The Lab, making a great game good since 2016.

GGG have tried to create something that is different to the core game and I can't believe some of the QQ here, really excessive. One run gives 2 ascendancy points and people QQ over it?
Nonetheless I'm going to try to keep my feedback succinct: pros: - love the music and art of the lab, such work involved its magnificent. - the core idea is good, ie. an activity that isnt purely smashing one mouse button and mindlessly facerolling content but... - the overall idea of the rewards (asc points+chests that increase in number+enchantments) is good but... - I'm hoping endgame lab will be challenging (but I suspect Izaro will be silly overtuned) - It has potential and GGG are clearly not giving up on the lab, we need to be patient and be constructive. I'd rather GGG continue to take risks in the future than release content that plays it safe. cons: - above all the grind for the enchants is beyond painful. Merciless lab simply isn't rewarding enough, and only being interested in an enchant that will probably be a dud is highlyy frustrating. If we could chose out of 2/3 enchants or any of the other suggestions this would placate many. I know that GGG are going to increase the other rewards but thats not the real problem with merc lab. Why spend 5-10 min on a lab just to get a bad enchant and zero chances of a map or T1/T2 unique when you could run a t5-10 map and get much better returns. Simply put merc lab is too low level and there is no reason to re-run it. - It is overall a bit unfun. I'm not sure why, maybe the mobs are too weak, or too few, or the traps too many and either crippling or non-threatening (ie extremes). I know they will be correcting how traps damage ES builds but it just adds to the above. - Dying only to traps is very frustrating, and unfairly punishing in hc (as gear independent). I think traps should be there to 'assist' enemies trying to kill us (ie being a relevant worry to have to dodge or deactivate) but the traps should never make the enemies seem irrelevant (its an arpg!) Summarising: - enchants need to be less rng based, at the moment it is too excessive! (They should need grind tho) - Lab needs to be more 'fun' (ie make mobs relevant to the lab, among other fixes) and generally more worth the time spent (when repeating). - Traps should not be so murderous, enemies that are 'assisted' by traps should be! Hopes for the Maps Labyrinth:
- It is something like the Zana Portals where you at least have 5 Portals. - It's not gated too much in the late-tier maps. - The Labyrinths are available in a big enough map pool. - The Game Optimization helps make it so you don't need to reboot and let your PC cool down before running Labyrinth. Just another Forum Signature in a Sea of Signatures.
