I think it is time to revive this thread. I created it right before 0.9.4 was deployed, so it died in the 0.9.3 feedback forum.

You will remember them from Doom 2, maybe the most hated monster to ever spawn, hehe... The only reason why i want to see them in PoE, is that they cast apocalypse spell, sa known as "Flamestrike" in Ultima Online.

Succubus



Another hectic monster from Ultima Online, as i remember right they were draining both life and mana, also a spellcasting foe.

There are many favourite monsters all around but for now these two are the only ones that comes to my mind, will add more in future.

Great to see these 2 posts of yours brought back, nearly forgot it, and my hopes have died already..

Gonna add a few again;

We are familiar to these monsters from Diablo I;

Acid Spitters



They puke vomit as a projectile and when hit ground or to you, it leaves piles of acids all over. Thus, forces you not to standing still, which would be a great example of enemy if implemented in PoE. These kind of enemies shall dramatically increase battle experiences to top !

Horned Demons



Again from Diablo I, these monsters were giving some big trouble with their charged attacks. Especially when hit by a few of them had been resulting near death conditions, too severe. Don't ever say we already have Rhoas. They are like a joke compared to these filthy demons on all counts definitly.

Regurgitators (D2)



These were one of my favourite monster types back then, cause they were concerned with eating and spitting corpses wheras possible, albeit slow. We need some that kind cannibal monster that shall fit within PoE perfectly !

Pit Lords



From HoMaM 3, Pitlords had the ability to resurrect dead Horned Demons. They have a whip on their hand, and looks hellish, would love to see in PoE.

Other then these, PoE needs archers that their hits burn mana to bring some trouble.

Also would like to see Evil Genies that can use both spells/curses, and melee when encountered.

afaik no flying units in the game yet.

Flying units could be unaffected by some of the melee skills like ground slam. Characters based on this skill would more likely to party in this situation.

Maybe a minotaur?


with slow movement speed, low accuracy, medium hp, high damage, very long knock back hit(maybe active skill, maybe passive), leap attack(for range attackers)
Would like to see some pack monsters. Perhaps ones who could call for help to make it more interesting. Any monster would do but demons would be cool.

You mean like monkeys?

Anyway, alternate form of pack formation: "retreat until there are X allies nearby" AI - where "nearby" and "X" can vary with the party size or monster type.

Yes, but not just monkeys. I would like smarter A.I as well like you pointed out. Maybe see it at lower levels. Just throwing stuff out there.

What about some flying monsters? Ranged gargoyles spitting venom would be a cool thing, for example.
Would love to see more magic users, like shamans, necromancers, evil sorcerers etc. They can curse, summon, resurrect, teleport and use elemental spells etc.

There is like one guy you fight that rains down his firestorm spell in act 1 but then you never see any other monsters like him again.

Also would like to see more giant brute melee monsters, like a cyclops or minotaurs.

Suicide monsters that explode when they near you. Monsters that hide underneath the surface like lurkers in starcraft. Monsters that spawn more monsters if you wait too long to kill them, or when you kill them spawn more smaller monsters.

Would love to fight some evil druids in the jungle that can summon creatures to fight for them and use weather spells against us.

i could go on forever lol.
