Wouldn't worry too much about that guy. He's less important and at times less reasonable than he likes to think. Good suggestion +1 :)

The nodes in that area generally feel weak to me (Twin Terrors/King of the Hill aside).

Point Blank is pretty awesome. Forces of Nature cluster (right next to Fangs of Frost cluster too!) is really strong in a lot of builds. And if you think Twin Terrors is strong, wait until you see the Fatal blade cluster!
Command of Steel cluster and Druidic rite are also pretty decent.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

Barring Druidic Rite, none of those are on that central path - the only place the life cluster is currently accessible from and the apparent reason for this thread.

I would agree there are some strong options, but they're mostly niche and not cohesive. Between the lack of good (and accessible) life sources and hodgepodge of nodes, it feels really bad to path through. Just a personal observation/opinion though. ;)

GGG has forgotten where they came from. As a result, I no longer support the deceitful, corporate Tencent slave sellouts running this game.
For bow builds it isn't an issue since you're most likely pathing towards king of the hill, but for melee builds it's very frustrating having to spend an extra 2-3 points to path through the area
I don't know. To be honest that life cluster is one of few which feels like an actual choice, rather than your typical "oh hey grab the life obviously."

I think I'd rather see Point Blank and King of the Hill switch positions. My general observation is that, with bow builds, going for that cluster feels like a choice when getting Point Blank (because Graceful Assault is awesome) but it doesn't really feel so otherwise.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.
