I did just switch to bow and balista from Ancestral Warchief (lvl 53) like u said and it feels shitty(slow and low dps)
Whats the problem?
I would suggest not taking Ancestrial Bond asap - just move all the way and stop right before it - meanwhile use Split Shot (+ single ballista). Switching to pure ballista makes sense for me, if you got all four (rolls do not matter):
- Infractem/ Death's Harp (Opus)/ Lioneye's Glare (depending on your level)
- Rain of Splinters gem
- at least a 4L item (5L evasion armor worth ~ 1 alchemy already)
- either Skirmish or Drillneck quiverh
like 2 chaos of investment

I do have infractem and also drillneck still pretty shit at lvl 53 dunno why i cant even do Cruel slowly..
I just picked up a bow that has a lot of stuff that buffs ballista so was wanting to use it. I already run a ballista in my current split shot build, so I'd like to try and make a split shot and ballista build, I also use pierce gems.

what do you think about this? I am just starting out and tbh it's more about me having fun at the minute then making viable end-game builds, but at the same time I'd rather not invest too much time into a dead end build.

I was thinking of having my curse set up on the arrow move "frenzy" and user GMP (in a 4-link this greatly reduces it's damage though so it's strictly utility)

Then my main attacks would be the dual ballista and split shot.

Not sure on the auras yet and probably would run some kind of gollem too if I could fit it in, currently running ice, but not sure for this build.

any tips you can give would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

If you want tips first unlock your characters tab in privacy setting so I can see your passive tree and gear. Give me your char name and league, and amount of currency you can spend on improvements. Then we can see what is most efficient in your situation.

Thanks, will unlock it. I'm still just leveling right now though.

I sniped a nice leveling amulet(1 alch) for this spec to get the bows going early.

This amulet can help mana problems but it's far from optimal for leveling. I will suggest buy:

or

They are much, much better for this build. If you got mana problems get one or 2 those rings :

and this helmet:

@Umbral_Spectre

Sry bro I see you playing some kind of generic ranger crit build. I will not gives you any advises, because this build was never crit focused and it's no longer ranger build.
You should ask questions in this topic, where ppl playing that kind of builds:

@Elua, Have you had Cospri's long enough to determine whether it's a better choice over Kintsugi?

Also, do you think it'd be worth it (breach sc) to buy a 6l evasion chest with some life for 1ex or save the exalt for something better? (I currently only have a 5l)

It's hard to judge. Kintsugi offers big hit protection, it's super solid robe. Cospri offers dps from double curse. Cospri is very hard to use, you must get expensive high res gear to compensate it. Overall I don't recommend it, lacking of life and res is serious issue. It's better simply buy taste of hate flask + silver and atzir's. For this league and breaches Kintsugi is not optimal too. Kinstugi is great for Uber lab, Izaro fights, gigantic hits. I think optimal robe for this league is Belly of Beast.

And because marauder totem and armor buffs probably going full armor no evasion is better option. Skipping acrobatics, and getting +10% life from that 2 points.

If you still using 5L buying 6L 1ex evasion robe is very good upgrade, dps will be like 30% better. And that kind of robes are very easy to sell if you got some serious upgrade like Belly or Kintusgi 6L later.

Which buff are you referring to? Also, I can see how using Belly of the Beast would make Taste of Hate and Atziri's Flask really strong. Thanks for the advice (and great guide, of course)
I mean that ascendancy and passive tree marauder points armor buffs like Tukohama.

I wanted say biggest dps upgrade are flasks, not Cospri's. So getting more life in robe is highly recommended for comfortable play.
