There is never going to be any way for GGG (or any game developer for that matter) to be able to please players across the spectrum from newbie to veteran, from casual to hardcore fanatics, and from softcore to hard-ass-core. That's impossible. So GGG has to take their best shot and see where the players stand on good/bad for each and every new league and added content. Some will love it, some will hate it, most will fall somewhere in between the extremes. So the OP thinks labs is trash... his opinion.
Except that they totally can. GGG is falling into the same trap that Riot Games has, balancing the game around the no-lifers who can and will find a way to trivialize everything released. What they can and should do is finally relent and separate the game into actual difficulties; Standard and Hardcore. Standard players do not, I repeat, do not want a "hardcore experience." If we did, we'd be playing on Hardcore (there is not a "duh" resounding enough to express this fact). Standard mode should be easier, allowing Standard players to enjoy the aspects of the game that appeal to us. I know for a fact that I'm not the only person around here who just wants to explore the freeform build system, but can't because it's so frustrating to get slaughtered if we aren't building cookie-cutter builds.
Unfortunately, every time this is brought up, the no-lifers come out with their pitchforks and act like making Standard easier would somehow ruin their Hardcore experience. The irony being that they love to argue that "labyrinth is optional" while recoiling at the idea of an actual option that they are would be entirely unaffected by. And so we get nowhere.

Absolutely true...
...as long as you don't count the thousands of video games that have successfully done that via supporting different modes of play.

My problem with most suggestions (like getting the points at the end of Act IV) is that they are just more efficient than running the labyrinth. It would make it pointless to run it in Normal and Cruel.

You misunderstand me. My argument is that Labyrinth should not have the do-it-in-one-shot caveat. It was added specifically to force Hardcore playstyle down Standard's throat, by GGG's own admission. I don't think I have to explain why that's a terrible design choice, but to repeat myself: If Standard players wanted to play Hardcore, then we would be playing Hardcore.
And secondly, my continuing argument is that Standard should be overall toned down. Or at least split up Standard into Standard and Casual. Look, I'm not ashamed to admit I don't play this game for the challenge. But I've said it many times before: The build flexibility in this game is crushed by the crazy amounts of damage heaped on us. And yes, glass cannon builds are technically viable...About as viable as my teeth are a viable tool for cutting down a redwood.

About the first paragraph: I agree. About the second one, I disagree. Even if the damage was toned down, the difference in powers would make your builds shit comparatively. There is no easy solution to that. Also, a lot of players apreciate the challenge, SC or HC. Part of being a hardcore ARPG (hardcore in the general sense of the word, not the temporal league sense of the word) as it was marketed.
I didn't read well your post, sorry, :P The whole "optional" discussion is mostly about the labyrinth, not necessarily about the hardcore part of it (although there are some people that would insist on that for the hell of it). There is not a lot of middle ground this days, and the biggest thread that complains about it is fairly extremist.

Get better toaster connection or somme shit, all these pleb's complaining about dc and lagg. And im here having pretty much no lagg and like 1 dc a month. Don't forget this is a f2p game who cant run on best of the best server or shit like that. Just be fucking thankful that u can play this awesome game for free everyday.
It's not always about OUR internet connections, man.
Some people here have excellent connections, yet GGG's servers can't handle the load. It probably has a lot to do with player location and the strength of GGG's game servers in that area at that time.
Just because something doesn't affect YOU doesn't make it any less real to others.
This is a lesson of wisdom that far too many people have yet to learn.

Not what I want as a standard player. I don't like hardcore because its more punishing and time consuming having to remake characters every time they die. But I don't want an easier game, hell its too easy already. I thought open beta was just slightly too hard, but now you can pretty much just face roll all the way to maps.
yesterday lab took 7 min per run.
so you lose 7 min cause disconnect.
and?
Run 200-500 times and dont get any useful enhancement you needed/wanted and then speak about 7-10-20 min.
UPD: Also to YOU it only 7 min, your build, your experience and style. So making that argument (about only 7 min) so false and wrong, special when its so unbalanced.
The issue I have with the Enchantment is that there isn't really much motivation to do more enchants once you have a useful enchant. Because the chance is high you actually destroy that half useful enchant for a not so useful one. And except for some cheap uniques you won't always have 2 helmets to enchant. So when you enchant you should get the decision to keep the enchant or put the new one on top of it, it would make the enchantment process less punishing.
